  1. Your lineup blows compared to mine and it is a wash defensively. Does it really bother you so much when the old dude thinks outside of the box and comes up with an interesting idea. I can't believe that you can't even admit that it would be a fun lineup. Lol! A700 for GM!
  2. Do you think Dunn would be so much better in the field? Plus, he may be bigger and fatter than Ortiz. Check out the gut on the guy. Lol!
  3. It would never happen, but even with an old Manny and Ortiz that would be some fun lineup. Crawford Pedroia Youkilis Ortiz Manny VMart Drew Scutaro Ellsbury I think they would score some runs, and they would have speed too. Lol!
  4. Carl Crawford in LF, Manny at DH 130 games, Ortiz at 1B for 120 games DH for 30 games, VMart catcher and 1B 40 games, and Youk at 3rd.
  5. That wouldn't give me any joy. Cliff Lee in the Red Sox rotation would make me happy. A Yankee rotatio with Lee and Sabathia for the next 4 seasons is not going to float my boat regardless of how much they spend.
  6. I don't want Werth. Crawford is the prize.
  7. I am with you on this. I am not buying any of the planted stories about his times on his throws to second base while he was at Pawtucket. He's a train wreck behind the plate, and he hasn't proved anything at the ML level with the bat. I hope it is just negotiating posturing.
  8. That would be a great addition.
  9. There is a reason why Boras likes to get the Sox and the Yanks bidding on a player. Not every player wants to play for the Yanks or the Sox, but they have tremendous resources and they will bid against each other driving up the players price, even if he signs elsewhere. If the yanks and Sox don't get involved in the bidding, the price will not go as high. They will not have trouble getting jobs, but the price would be higher if he can get the Sox and Yanks in on the deal.
  10. When Morgan started out as a color guy, he was excellent. He had lots of insights and he still knew the players very well. As years past, he lost the connection with the players and stopped doing his homework. He basically would interview a few people before the game to try to get a feel for what was going on, and his lack of preparation was evident. I do like Miller. He's a good listen.
  11. I wonder why the Sox chose to meet with Werth first. Also, why was the meeting so public? Is it a negotiating ploy to get Crawford to take interest. There are only a few teams around that can meet Crawford's price. If the Sox take themselves out of the bidding by signing Werth, and the Yankees are not interested and the Mets can't move Beltran first, there aren't too many teams where he can land. If he can't get around 3 big market teams to bid against each other, it could hurt him.
  12. By impact I mean someone who will hold down a starting position and contribute above average offensively. I am not talking about making the roster. I have been pretty clear about this, but somehow because you take my observations as an affront to the FO you are arguing with me even though you agree with my main premise- no one will be coming up from the minors in the next couple of years who will be a starter with an above average bat. Could there be surprises? Yes. Iglesias might hit better than expected. Kalish might blossom. However, the FO isn't clearing a position for anyone, so I am not expecting much help from the minors in 2011 or 2012. Are you? I'm not sure that Theo would disagree with my assessment. I read before last season that Theo believed that they wouldn't be able to field a good "young" team (like 2007) before 2012. He made that statement before Westmoreland got sick. I think losing the #1 prospect in the organization might have caused the timetable to be pushed back a year. Finally, I am not denying that there are any impact bats in the organization. I am saying that we have none that will make an impact before 2013. Do you disagree?
  13. But not before 2013.
  14. and you agree with me that none of them are in the Sox organization. It will be interesting to see where our minor league system gets ranked.
  15. Getting a spot? The point is that none of our prospects will have an impact to improve the team in the next couple of years. You are really stuck on the whole "buzz" thing. So predictable.
  16. I don't care where they get the players. They just are not going to have any impact guys coming up from the farm before 2013 at the earliest. People say that the organization is bottom heavy Because we don't have any MLB ready blue chip prospects. It's going to be interesting to see where the minor league organization gets ranked. Maybe there is enough depth of good young arms to overome the lack of developed position players.
  17. I'm not telling the FO to do anything. I am just noting that our farm system will bear no fruit over the next couple of years. When I talk about improving, I am talking about improving over last year's team. I am not saying that they will not make the necessary moves. I expect that they will do what it takes to get it done. I am just observing that it will not come from within the organization. You don't seem to disagree, so what is it that you are debating? As for the continuing reference that you are making to the term "buzz", you should note that in my initial post on this topic today that I did not use the term at all. I only used the term in subsequent posts after there was little reaction to my initial post. I figured that the term would create plenty of "buzz" in the thread. I think it did.
  18. You and ORS are arguing the meaning of an expression, but you are both missing the point. The point of my argument isn't "buzz." I'm looking at the rosters and reading the reports, and IMO, no one is going to make any impact for the Sox before 2013. If all we have to look forward to in 2012 is Lavarnway as a backup and Iglesias as a light-hitting SS, then it is pretty obvious that the FO will have to go outside the organization if it wants to improve in 2011 and 2012. That's the point that i am making.
