Theo will always be something of a folk hero for bringing home two championships, but he should not get a free ride and he should be judged by the results on the field, and he is not good at building bullpens. He has a record that has nothing to do with injuries, and he is not the only GM that is subject to volatile fluctuations when building a bullpen. They are all faced with that variable. Yet, the Yankees have a better record. Their bullpens are almost always in the middle of the pack or better. Somehow, they have managed the volatility better than the Sox.
