  1. I never said that I was in favor of the move.
  2. Then take the bet. We sign Manny. You win. We sign Crawford. I win. Neither signs. No one wins. Take the bet if you are so sure. I am sure about my side of it.
  3. This is interesting.
  4. The bet is open to all TalKSox members. The thought that the FO would sign Manny is preposterous.
  5. The extension is 7 years, but he would be under contract with the Sox for 8 years for a total of $160 million.
  6. I thought he was unhappy about not getting him and then he got banned before we got him. I would really like to get Beltran.
  7. Not really.
  8. It's pretty obvious what happened based on the reports and the timeline of events. I'll go with Gammon's version of the events.
  9. Would you like to take the bet?
  10. Head in sand
  11. I want him to play for the Red Sox. I haven't offered an opinion on what he should be paid.
  12. Yes, I have an anti-FO agenda. I picket Fenway frequently and demand that they be fired. I don't care if monkeys are running the FO as long as they put out a good competitive product with a chance of winning. But why believe me with my anti-FO agenda. How about this post from E1 -- honorary president of the Theo fan club or the article by Gammons linked in E1's post. Gammons has lots of friends in the FO and certainly no anti-FO agenda like me.
  13. Don't the Nats already have an athletic SS who is a project with a full ML season under his belt? Why would they want Navarro?
  14. I just want his signature on a contract. i really don't care what the numbers are, but for those who care about that stuff-- our internet GMs, they should realize that the Sox FO was outmaneuvered by Mr. Boggs. They will have their hands full with that guy. I would recommend that they cave early to his demands as i think his price will only go up, unless he has a bad shoulder that our docs missed.
  15. The signal for the press conference on line just cut out.
  16. Per Theo-- No contract extension in place, but there was good faith and they were close so they decided to go forward with the deal. The real story is that they walked away from the table and were prepared to pursue Werth. Werth signed and they summoned Agon from the airport before he left town. There is no extension and no parameters are in place either. The great news: Gonzalez will anchor the lineup for at least 2011 The great news for AGon: He gets to play for the Sox and his agent ran circles around the FO.
