  1. I'm not complaining now, so there goes that theory. If I wasn't so old, I'd be turning cartwheels. It seem really hard for you to muster much enthusiasm about this deal. At least that is the vibe that I am getting. That's too bad. Our guy, ...correction ... my guy, Theo just scored the most talented FA non-pitcher of the 2010 class. You should be reveling, if for no other reason than the fact that Yankee fans all over NY swallowed their tongues when they got the news. They are not happy at all.
  2. I'd move Pedroia to lead off. I'd stack the best hitters right at the top. Petey is a high OBP. I'd love to see him and Crawford setting the table for the big boppers-- Youkilis, AGon and Ortiz. I'm not a believer in trying to extend the lineup by putting one of the lesser guys (i.e. Ellsbury) in the top of the order. My order against RHP would be: 1. Pedrioa 2. Crawford 3. Youkilis 4. AGon 5. Ortiz 6. Drew 7. Scutaro 8. Salty/Tek 9. Ellsbury Aginst LHP: 1. Pedrioa 2. Crawford 3. Youkilis 4. AGon 5. Ortiz 6. Cameron 7. Drew 8. Scutaro 9. Salty/Tek It would be great to get Russell Martin and work him into this lineup.
  3. Did I mention any poster by name? No, I didn't. As you would say, it was directed at no one in particular. I think turnabout is fair play in this case. I am continuously mischaracterized as anti-Theo all the time. As long as that continues, I think it is fair for me to refer to others as the "Theo can do no wrong" crowd or fanboys. It's funny that in criticizing me for that you continue to mischaracterize me by saying "[y]ou find a reason to criticize every move, every time." The fact is that we have different approaches so we will criticize Theo for different moves. There was just a lot of people on this board who were in shock that Theo was of like mind with me on this move. I find it funny that so many people claim to know what Theo thinks about things and what his approach will dictate. I never presume to know what he will do. I just post what I would like him to do. I am ecstatic that he did this. As for your comment about AGon, are you accusing me of not wanting to get AGon. I love that he got AGon. So, I don't know what you are talking about.
  4. I was just told over and over that it was not going to happen. Your offer is generous. I will think about a suitable user name.
  5. I had moved onto discussing the teams other needs last night as many of the "Crawford would be fiscally irresponsible and the FO is not fiscally irresponsible" crowd was trying to wrap its head around the signing. It was interesting to see the "Theo does no wrong " crowd try to come to grips with something that they had considered so anti-Theo. Very funny indeed.
  6. All along I kept saying all along that I thought it was a possibility that he would get signed. I also disputed that Werth was the better value. On both counts I was mocked and told that I was nuts, high on drugs etc. When people started discussing Manny, I thought my head would explode because there was zero chance they would bring back a guy that forced himself out of town, and who demanded a trade, but I was told that there was a better chance of that than getting Crawford.
  7. These are two mega moves. This is the biggest, boldest off season by this ownership group.
  8. This makes me laugh too! Where the hell were you getting numbers like $180/190 million? Does he fit now? You must think Theo is an imbecile. Don't hate on my GM.
  9. It should be even a bigger circus with Cervelli behind the plate. If the 22 year old you are referring to is Montero, perhaps you didn't get the memo, but the Yankee scouting report projects him as a DH. He sucks it at catcher. You had better hope the Yanks sign Russell Martin to have any shot at all of not being embarrassed, that's right embarrassed by Sox base runners.
  10. I have a steel bladder. I've been known to drink beer for hours without using the bathroom, but if Lee accepted the Red Sox offer, I'd piss myself.
  11. Red Sox FO eating the Yankees lunch. I like.
  12. I made a little change in the interest of accuracy.
  13. Delusional.
  14. Where's that bottle of Grey Goose? I need that. Please post it again. Alright, enough dissecting of this move. It was a great move, and I told you why days ago. Theo agreed. Check my posts on Crawford and it will be crystal clear. Now, it's time to build a bullpen. Let's turn our attention to that. Where's ORS? I'm so happy that I want to give him a big cyber hug.
  15. E1, why are you hating on Theo? Sorry, but I deserve to have some fun after almost everyone told me that I was insane for thinking this deal was a possibility.
  16. Last year AGon hit lefties better than righties. Cameron will get plenty of AB's against LH pitching filling in for Drew, Ellsbury and Crawford.
  17. Yes, but I'm right about Soccer and Rugby.
  18. Hell no!!! I'm holding Theo's feet tot the fire to build a decent bullpen. I judge the moves as they come. Theo usually gets it done, but he's on probation on the bullpen issue. I am sorry that the fanboys can't take it when I criticize some of his moves. I can't believe that some of you are bothered by the financial terms of this deal. Ticket prices are set for 2011 and they go on sale on Saturday. They will be tough to get. Is he overpaid? Everyone that sets foot on the field for the Sox is overpaid, so why complain about this guy. Your GM just got you one of the premier talents in the game. Be happy. Show him the love.
  19. I've always said that on the whole the FO does an excellent job. I also said after the miserable end of last season that I expected bold things from the FO this off season. AGon was great, and that was enough for many, but I felt that there was another shoe to drop. I preferred Crawford over Lee, but if they wanted to close the gap on the Yanks, one of those moves had to be made. If the Yanks landed them both we'd be playing for second place. It will be fun to watch Crawford and Ellsbury run down balls in the gap and play running bases with old man Posada. It should be a lot of fun. And let this be a reminder to all of you: A700 is almost always right. (except in certain rare circumstances):lol:
  20. Memo to TalkSox: The Red Sox signed Carl Crawford!!!! We have the shiny new toy. I am sure many of you are miserable about this, because you thought he was overrated and too expensive and you wanted broken down warhorses like Maggs Ordonez. I am thrilled!!! I've been at a cocktail party for work and I've had enough vodka to get Spud tipsy, but I am thrilled. Those of you who don't like getting this guy need a lot of mental help. People must be surprised that me and Theo think alike on a lot of things.:lol::lol: :dance::dance::dance::dance:
