  1. No one would disagree, just as no one would judge a move based on whether he liked or disliked a GM.
  2. Can Beltre play OF? How many people would he DL running for the ball in the gaps. It makes me shiver.
  3. Are Adam Rubin and Joel Sherman also Boras' mouthpieces?
  4. I like that. Of course, if they get Beltran, who is my # 1 choice on the RH hitter poll, I'll still hate Theo, because I don't like his kind, whatever kind that is.
  5. What is "a person like Theo"? Why don't I like him and what GM's would a guy like me like? I don't know Theo or what kind of person that he is. I judge the moves as they come. Some I like. Some I don't. I love getting AGon, so why would I dislike Theo? He got the guy I wanted. Again, let's leave the sports discussions to the sports and not the perceived personalities and beliefs of the poster. I busted your balls about making a bet yesterday, and you had posters jumping to your defense, and today you return to your personal characterizations of me which I have repeatedly told you is not within the rules of this community. How about knocking it off with that tactic once and for all. You don't know what I like or who I like or why. You don't know me. Let's discuss sports. Va, how about jumping in here to show you have some fairness.
  6. Not true. I posted positively about the Beltre deal last year. Also thought they did a good job holding the line with Boras on Dice K, because the Sox had all the leverage and used it. The posting fee was a huge miscalculation, but the negotiation with Boras was a good job. Overall, I don't think contract negotiations are their strong point, and I think they were out-negotiated here. I think they were lucky that Werth signed before AGon left town, because I think the signing of Werth was the reason why they called Boggs. Until they sign AGon to the extension, he has the upper hand. Here's the point that you are missing. My only agenda is to get the player, so on the post mortem I have no agenda. My agenda has been completed once we get the player I like. I hope they overspend and get Crawford too. You have an agenda in this discussion, not me.
  7. If the Sox don't sign him, I can't see any possible reason for the trade.
  8. I know who we traded, but why did we make the trade? He was non-tendered. So what do the Sox get out of that trade?
  9. Why did we trade to get this guy?
  10. Yeah, great. Just what we need -- another agent eating Theo's lunch.
  11. Won't Strasburg miss the entire 2011 season with Tommy John surgery?
  12. Daily Reminder to the FO: Sign Carl Crawford! Add him to this lineup and the combination of speed and power unstoppable.
  13. From today's Globe: The call probably came right after Werth signed. That would be my best guess. This guy Boggs is a good negotiator. Publicly, it seems that the Red Sox have already come up $40 million to 8yrs/$160 million. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes higher.
  14. If in addition to AGon the Sox add a RH hitter like Ordonez, Nady or Quentin and some bullpen pieces, but the Yankees add Lee and Crawford, will the Sox have closed the gap or lost ground?
  15. Maggs would be my second choice. When healthy, he can hit.
  16. Since Theo said he's looking for a RH hitter, who would you like it to be?
  17. Not attacking anyone. Just trying to make someone put their money where their mouth is. He told me he was a deadbeat by saying that he wouldn't pay up on the bet. That is the definition of a deadbeat. I take back the no balls comment. I was just trying to goad him into the bet. I like betting action. Can't help myself. I understand that most people don't have the spine to put themselves on the line with those things.
  18. Big talk from someone who will not back up his opinion.
