  1. This makes me laugh too! Where the hell were you getting numbers like $180/190 million? Does he fit now? You must think Theo is an imbecile. Don't hate on my GM.
  2. It should be even a bigger circus with Cervelli behind the plate. If the 22 year old you are referring to is Montero, perhaps you didn't get the memo, but the Yankee scouting report projects him as a DH. He sucks it at catcher. You had better hope the Yanks sign Russell Martin to have any shot at all of not being embarrassed, that's right embarrassed by Sox base runners.
  3. I have a steel bladder. I've been known to drink beer for hours without using the bathroom, but if Lee accepted the Red Sox offer, I'd piss myself.
  4. Red Sox FO eating the Yankees lunch. I like.
  5. I made a little change in the interest of accuracy.
  6. Delusional.
  7. Where's that bottle of Grey Goose? I need that. Please post it again. Alright, enough dissecting of this move. It was a great move, and I told you why days ago. Theo agreed. Check my posts on Crawford and it will be crystal clear. Now, it's time to build a bullpen. Let's turn our attention to that. Where's ORS? I'm so happy that I want to give him a big cyber hug.
  8. E1, why are you hating on Theo? Sorry, but I deserve to have some fun after almost everyone told me that I was insane for thinking this deal was a possibility.
  9. Last year AGon hit lefties better than righties. Cameron will get plenty of AB's against LH pitching filling in for Drew, Ellsbury and Crawford.
  10. Yes, but I'm right about Soccer and Rugby.
  11. Hell no!!! I'm holding Theo's feet tot the fire to build a decent bullpen. I judge the moves as they come. Theo usually gets it done, but he's on probation on the bullpen issue. I am sorry that the fanboys can't take it when I criticize some of his moves. I can't believe that some of you are bothered by the financial terms of this deal. Ticket prices are set for 2011 and they go on sale on Saturday. They will be tough to get. Is he overpaid? Everyone that sets foot on the field for the Sox is overpaid, so why complain about this guy. Your GM just got you one of the premier talents in the game. Be happy. Show him the love.
  12. I've always said that on the whole the FO does an excellent job. I also said after the miserable end of last season that I expected bold things from the FO this off season. AGon was great, and that was enough for many, but I felt that there was another shoe to drop. I preferred Crawford over Lee, but if they wanted to close the gap on the Yanks, one of those moves had to be made. If the Yanks landed them both we'd be playing for second place. It will be fun to watch Crawford and Ellsbury run down balls in the gap and play running bases with old man Posada. It should be a lot of fun. And let this be a reminder to all of you: A700 is almost always right. (except in certain rare circumstances):lol:
  13. Memo to TalkSox: The Red Sox signed Carl Crawford!!!! We have the shiny new toy. I am sure many of you are miserable about this, because you thought he was overrated and too expensive and you wanted broken down warhorses like Maggs Ordonez. I am thrilled!!! I've been at a cocktail party for work and I've had enough vodka to get Spud tipsy, but I am thrilled. Those of you who don't like getting this guy need a lot of mental help. People must be surprised that me and Theo think alike on a lot of things.:lol::lol: :dance::dance::dance::dance:
  14. I think you are right, but my faulty recollection is that it was a severe knee injury.
  15. I think he has has a few injury marred seasons recently. I think he has a bum shoulder.
  16. He is almost 2 years older than Ortiz.
  17. He's only 28. I expect that the hitting part of his game including his power production will improve to fill any void created by diminishing speed.
  18. I am not crazy about Maggs on a 2 year contract.
  19. As for Crawford's value, I think his offensive impact is being underrated as opposed to overrated. People almost dismissively refer to his speed as "flashy." I view it much differently. I think it is a rare and lethal weapon. He stole 47 bases last season (essentially turning singles into doubles and doubles into triples). If those additional bases were factored into his Slugging % and OPS, net of the times he was thrown out, his 2010 OPS would be .913 and .845 for his career. Those are damn good numbers and that doesn't even take into account the havoc that his speed together with Ellsbury would cause for defenses and the number of errors that would be forced. Crawford is an impact player-- not just a flashy toy.
  20. At Fenway there is no 7th inning stretch. There is a "7th Inning Flash. Each section designates the hottest girl in the section to flash their breasts as "Take me out to the Ballgame" is sung by the crowd. Hence, the record number of consecutive sell out crowds.
  21. I'm all for your suggested alternative, but if you don't think Lee is a shiny new toy, I certainly do. Are we going to get into a pissing contest as to which is shinier? Either one would have a big impact on Boston's future in a very positive way. On the topic of Beltran, I've told you guys that I know people working with the Mets. The are having huge $ trouble. They don't want talent in return for Beltran except to the extent that they have to placate the fan base. They want to dump his salary. I doubt they will be eating much, if any, of his salary. This is a 5 tool guy, who has regained his health and he will be playing for a new contract. Take the 1 year hit and take his salary and LF is no longer an issue.
  22. Reminder to the FO: Sign Carl Crawford!!! A lineup with Crawford and AGon would be all kinds of awesome. As for aging speedsters, Rickey Henderson stayed really good for a long time.
