Just read the gamethread. I was MIA last night, but watched the entire game. Very enjoyable game thread. It would not have been the same without Jacko. He was a good sport, even though he was a bit overboard about the eye for an eye stuff. For those of you who don't live in the NY area, I can tell you that Jacko's position is reflective of the thirst for blood and revenge that has been all over the media since Tuesday night. It has been a pattern for quite some time in NY that when the Sox start dominating them that Yankee Universe starts screaming about hitting our guys. It's not always a tit for tat situation. In the past they have screamed to throw at Papi's or Manny's legs to move them off the plate and "make them uncomfortable". They hate losing and they are always willing to resort to dirty bullying tactics to turn things around. Every sports news outlet has been saying the same thing for 3 days- not just the sensationalistic shock sports jock guys. Everyone has been screaming to hit Ortiz. He might as well have had a target on his back. CC had no choice. Thankfully, he did it the right way. Papi "took it like a man" (like he advised Girardi to do) and he let his bat do the talking getting two hits in the 7th off the two best Yankee pitchers other than Mo. For those of you who have in the past talked about letting Ortiz go after the season, eat s*** and die. Back to the Yankee fans and their blood thirst. They were getting worked up all week long. I thought it was a disgrace that so many Yankee fans cheered when Ortiz got hit- totally classless.
As for Girardi, he's a punk and Jacko is right that he is a terrible manager. I am the first to question Tito's game moves, but Girardi maybe even worse. Terry at least is a very good manager with regard to clubhouse issues and personalities. Girardi is not, and it was ridiculous that he made an issue of the bat flip on Tuesday. His explanation was that he had " a young kid on the mound"? Are you f***ing kidding! Was he afraid that he would be emotionally scarred. I was at the game. Everyone was watching the ball. No one even noticed the bat flip. Noesi said that he didn't see it. Girardi showed himself to be a punk by going into the gutter on that issue. Torre never would have gone there. Papi had the perfect response by telling Joe G to take it like a man. He can't, cause he's a punk.
