  1. No, not at all. I was just assessing the risk to him of bacterial infection vs the virus.
  2. That statistic tells you that hospitals are dangerous places with a terrible problem that needs fixing.
  3. He was much more at risk of getting a life-threatening bacterial infection. 44,000 to 98,000 people die each year of infections acquired in hospitals. That is a crisis. https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/414409
  4. I heard something about a 140 game season, playing the regular season into October and additional playoff teams.
  5. He was a very exciting player.
  6. Ali was in his heyday in the 60’s outside of the 50 years— couldn’t hit him and couldn’t defend against him. In the 70’s he was great but mortal. He could be hit and got hit a lot — answering the question asked in the 60’s could he take a punch. In the last 50 years of boxing, I’d put Mayweather at the top of the list.
  7. Interesting. And of course the players get full salary.
  8. Dewey, if they have second abbreviated Spring Training, would you go bask to Fla?
  9. And you can buy it at inflated prices from the Red Sox Store!! LOL!!
  10. The truth is that he is at a much higher risk of getting a serious bacterial infection from his hospital stay. That has been the ongoing crisis in our healthcare system -- the explosion of serious life-threatening infections for hospital patients. People should research the number of annual deaths attributable to that. The stats will shock people.
  11. I am sure that people in the entertainment industry aren't putting a hold on Botox injections and cosmetic surgery.
  12. Get it done in Bloom's basement with JH and Werner on lookout.
  13. He will need to get a Back Alley TJ Surgery.
  14. I think you are right.
  15. If the season gets cancelled, I think this is an issue that ends up in litigation. In 1994, when the season was cancelled, my recollection is that trades and signings got cancelled too. My recollection is that the Red Sox had signed/traded for John Wetteland and Sammy Sosa and that those transactions were cancelled.
  16. All the more reason for DD not to have extended him unless top medical doctors gave him a clean bill of health -- not our crackpot medical staff of quacks.
  17. It was a pretty good contract if he was healthy, but I was doubtful about his health when he signed.
  18. I was suspicious when Sale was so anxious to sign an extension. The crack medical team of crackpots did their usual fine job.
  19. Agreed. It would be cool to hear the sounds of the games in an empty stadium.
  20. [h=2]Chris Sale To Undergo Tommy John Surgery[/h]By Mark Polishuk | March 19, 2020 at 4:04pm CDT Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale will undergo Tommy John surgery, as per a team announcement. Sale will be out of action for roughly the next 12-15 months, as per the usual recovery timeline, and will miss all of the 2020 season.
  21. Agreed, and Guerin can stay home and they can limit the production to a single feed for TV and radio.
  22. It couldn't be done now, but maybe as the curve starts to flatten the initial games could be held without fans and take every precaution with production crews etc.
  23. I wonder if they are giving any thought to playing games without fans. The TV ratings would be through the roof. It might actually promote the game to young people if they played some day games since everyone is at home.
