Ali was in his heyday in the 60’s outside of the 50 years— couldn’t hit him and couldn’t defend against him. In the 70’s he was great but mortal. He could be hit and got hit a lot — answering the question asked in the 60’s could he take a punch. In the last 50 years of boxing, I’d put Mayweather at the top of the list. -

The truth is that he is at a much higher risk of getting a serious bacterial infection from his hospital stay. That has been the ongoing crisis in our healthcare system -- the explosion of serious life-threatening infections for hospital patients. People should research the number of annual deaths attributable to that. The stats will shock people.

If the season gets cancelled, I think this is an issue that ends up in litigation. In 1994, when the season was cancelled, my recollection is that trades and signings got cancelled too. My recollection is that the Red Sox had signed/traded for John Wetteland and Sammy Sosa and that those transactions were cancelled.

It couldn't be done now, but maybe as the curve starts to flatten the initial games could be held without fans and take every precaution with production crews etc.

I wonder if they are giving any thought to playing games without fans. The TV ratings would be through the roof. It might actually promote the game to young people if they played some day games since everyone is at home.

Just looking at Mookie's case, he'll be pissed if he isn't a FA in November, but the Dodgers will be pissed if they gave up value for Mookie if he is a FA. What about other trades where a year clicked off the service and the contracts?
