  1. This is the cream puff part of the schedule and we drop 2 of 3 at home.
  2. Mortensen is not a good pitcher. What he did tonighjust highlights how bad Bard was tonight. These A's stink. Mortensen had 6 k's and even fat Albers had 1 in his two-thirds of an inning. Doubront was all over the place last night and could barely get through 4 innings, but he k'd 8 of the pathetic A's batters and Red Sox pitchers had 14 k's overall in last night's game. So, let's not take this game as evidence that Mortensen is anything other than a bush leaguer who should get a couple of rides on the Pawtucket-Boston shuttle. The fact that the flame throwing Bard only had 1 k and he had no put away pitch against these bums is the story of our pitching tonight. He stunk.
  3. It's becoming obvious.
  4. AGon will hit and he'll hit plenty. However, with two virtual rookies in the starting rotation, we are not going anywhere. I was hopeful for a period, but reality is setting in. These guys might learn to pitch, but there will be plenty of growing pains on their way to becoming real starters. They are a long way from being good starters. These are the freakin A's. They suck bad. When the Yanks tried inserting two rookies into their rotation in 2008, it was the only year they didn't make the playoffs since 1993.
  5. He looked like a reliever tonight. He's having trouble staying focused for more than a few innings.
  6. Aviles was safe a first.
  7. Youkilis, Ellsbury, Crawford, and Bailey all on the DL by May3rd. They get to join the post op patients -- John Lackey and Dice K. This is shaping up great. This is spiraling out of control faster than it would have in any nightmare after a night of spicy food and bad liquor. We came into this season acknowledging that we needed to stay healthy to be competitive, because we have no plan B, and we are dropping like flies. I guess we will need to amend our optimistic outlook about remaining healthy and we can delude ourselves into thinking we will compete for the division as long as we have 25 warm bodies to suit up.
  8. It's just a waste of time. There is no upside to this. . . none, just as there was no upside to Carlos Silva or John Maine. These guys are beyond long shots. These cases need miracles.
  9. I never wanted him. He is the best of our s***** options. I'd rather he start in place of Beckett than Achinson, but I never wanted the guy. I hope he does well and his healthy for the first time in 5 years, but I am not expecting much.
  10. This is also sad
  11. I never wanted him signed, never wanted him in the organization. The fact that he is our plan B and we are in desperate need of a plan B on May 3rd is just very sad.
  12. I'd slide Aviles to third instead of benching him on Saturday.
  13. What a waste of time!
  14. What? Are you joking?
  15. Crap! I have tickets to that game. I wanted to see Beckett. Damn!
  16. All of us had assumed here at TalkSox had assumed that he would get called up, so it was surprising to see a headline saying: "Sox do not recall Cook."
