  1. From May on that season he was taking lidocaine shots in his ankle before each start and towards the end of the season he was taking a second shot during the games.
  2. BTW, for the record, I wouldn't have brought up any of the Yaz stuff, but SFF poked me.
  3. I can't help it.:dunno: I remember the tough guys. That's why it was surrealistic when Schilling had them stitch up his tendon to pitch in the post season. That was old-time tough.
  4. If he plays, you won't hear any of it, but yes, Yaz would've played with it taped tight and not just when he was young, but when he was in his late 30's and early 40's. Whatever happened to athletic tape? It's gone the way of the Dodo bird. I guess only boxers use it today. You never see a baseball player taped up. The pampered princesses all have to be pain free to play. We'll see if Pedroia is a throwback. I hope that he is. A one handed Pedroia is better than Punto any day of the week.
  5. He hasn't hurt us yet, which is all you hope for with a minor league fill in. He's been a plus up to this point. I am most impressed with his improvement in the field. With his average starting to dip, he needs to be at least major league average in the field to stick around. I think he has brought some spark and fight to the team. Despite the injuries and s***** stretches of pitching, this team has demonstrated heart-- something that was missing in 2011.
  6. If Pedroia is out for a month or more, that would be an awful gut punch. Plus, Iglesias is injured in AAA at this time with a bad back. Can Middlebrooks play SS with Aviles sliding to second?
  7. It seems that it would be prudent to shut him down for about a week to let him heal and let the swelling and pain subside.
  8. I just hope Pedroia isn't out very long. That could cause a tailspin.
  9. Huge win beating Verlander. Bard actually looked good tonight.
  10. We also thought that he would be hitting 35+ HRs for us. The comparison to Tex is irrelevant as he has also been a disappointment since the first year of his contract. Two wrongs don't make a right.
  11. Yep, but they'll wait about an hour.
  12. The differential is not worth the money. So, he is 36? What does that matter? he's hitting the crap out of the ball, and he is only under contract for another year. He's a great value.
  13. I'd rather have Paul Konerko at his salary.
  14. He's a lethal weapon with a bat.
  15. papi and youk have been hitting over .900 OPS for years. They should also make $22 million.
  16. Action? Cherries doesn't understand the meaning of the word.
  17. I think Gonzo is overpaid too. Slow footed first baseman who hit 25 HRs are not worth $22 million/year.
