  1. Aces find a way. He did not. No excuses. His whole season thus far has been a string of excuses. He has basically sucked to this point of the season. No space aliens.
  2. It was the space aliens I tell you.
  3. This guy is a puke. We should be making paste out of him. Hopefully, the umpires and space aliens will let Lester do his thing.
  4. A beast from the left and a beast from the right. He scorched that ball. I wasn't sure that it was high enough.
  5. I'd like to see Ciriaco replace Punto.
  6. So what excuses are we using for Lester s***ing on himself tonight: bad umpires, bad fielding, cheap hits, bad luck, space aliens, or George Bush?
  7. The lineup only has 3 elite hitters. If 2 get shut down, runs will be hard to come by. Losing to this puke would seem about right after battling and beating Verlander. Hopefully, Lester doesn't s*** all over himself again.
  8. It is a bit blasphemous, especially since Yaz already had won a triple crown and three batting championships by Nava's age.
  9. Yep, prior to 1967 he did dog it at times, and he heard about it. Part of it had to do with playing meaningless games by June and coming in last place. After 1967, he always played hard. Dick Williams tried to make an example of him in 1969 to light a fire under the team. It didn't work, and Yaz basically told him that he would punch his lights out. After '67, Yaz never dogged it, Williams assertion aside. He was always prepared to play and went to the post every day. No teammate of his will eer say he didn't work and play hard.
  10. Pedroia's pain would pale in comparison to the pain I will experience if Punto plays every day for a month.
  11. From May on that season he was taking lidocaine shots in his ankle before each start and towards the end of the season he was taking a second shot during the games.
  12. BTW, for the record, I wouldn't have brought up any of the Yaz stuff, but SFF poked me.
  13. I can't help it.:dunno: I remember the tough guys. That's why it was surrealistic when Schilling had them stitch up his tendon to pitch in the post season. That was old-time tough.
  14. If he plays, you won't hear any of it, but yes, Yaz would've played with it taped tight and not just when he was young, but when he was in his late 30's and early 40's. Whatever happened to athletic tape? It's gone the way of the Dodo bird. I guess only boxers use it today. You never see a baseball player taped up. The pampered princesses all have to be pain free to play. We'll see if Pedroia is a throwback. I hope that he is. A one handed Pedroia is better than Punto any day of the week.
  15. He hasn't hurt us yet, which is all you hope for with a minor league fill in. He's been a plus up to this point. I am most impressed with his improvement in the field. With his average starting to dip, he needs to be at least major league average in the field to stick around. I think he has brought some spark and fight to the team. Despite the injuries and s***** stretches of pitching, this team has demonstrated heart-- something that was missing in 2011.
  16. If Pedroia is out for a month or more, that would be an awful gut punch. Plus, Iglesias is injured in AAA at this time with a bad back. Can Middlebrooks play SS with Aviles sliding to second?
  17. It seems that it would be prudent to shut him down for about a week to let him heal and let the swelling and pain subside.
