  1. You wife sounds like a keeper.
  2. Here' my obeservatins from the game. I had avery good vantage point. A couple of things struck me about Dice K. It's been a while since I have seen him in person. Like the first time I saw him in Spring Training 2007, I was surprised at how small he is. However, he is in the best pysical condition of all his years with the Sox. Even in 2007, I was struck by the fact that he was a little pudgy guy. He is in excellent condition right now. As for his stuff, it looked crisp and sharp. Batters had a tough time with pitch recognition. His stuff was better thn I had expected as was his command. It was a pleasant surprise for me. We couldn't do a damn thing with Gio. He was sitting at 95-96 with his fastball. No one could sqauare him up. We made solid contact 3 times-- twice in the first two innings. We got two solid hits. I was thrilled when Johnson removed him. We had no chance against him. The Sox should have made a bigger push to trde for him in the off season. He is worth it. Plus the Nat's signed him for the next 5 years at $8million a year-- a f***ing steal. Nava mada a very good catch in the early innings going toward the LF line. He had a long run and caught it right by the line. WTF happened with the catcher on the passed ball in the second inning when Middlebrokks was batting? It like like the catcher turned to avoid the pitch and it nailed him good.
  3. I've been to Chicago only twice. It's a great city. I dobn't know if you eat red meat, but if you do enjoy it, you need to go to Lawry's Prime Rib. It is the best Prime Rib of anyplace that I have patronized, and I have been to all the top steak houses. If you go, I would recommend the Meat and Potato Martini. It is made with potato based vodka and olives stuffed with prime rib and horseradish. It's a unique and tasty drink.
  4. People will blame bad luck, injuries, etc., but it will never occur to them that the team isn't very good. There's no Papelbon to blame this year.
  5. Should we start counting long foul balls too. It's a one home run game for Gonzo, but he is swinging the bat much better.
  6. He"s a mess. They probably ruined him.
  7. But our pitching is trending in the right direction. It's almost at #26.
  8. Fred, have you been to Chicago in the past.
  9. Pay attention to details man! This is important stuff.
  10. And his May OPS of .841 is alarming?
  11. Packaging Nava in a trade would be a great idea.
  12. He hasn't had enough work since his injury. He has options.
  13. Yes, physically he has declined in two months. OMG, maybe he has Lupus! or maybe pitchers have adjusted to him and decided not to let him hurt them and that he has has had very little protection around him, especially when Pedroia was out. When Pedy and Gonzo start to pick up, pitchers will have to start pitching to him again, and as the big man says, someone is gonna pay. I don't think he is ready for a wheelchair.
  14. I'll take a .340 OBP for my 5th OFer, but more importantly, he is the better OFer and he can play CF. He doesn't steal 70 bases anymore. If he did, he would be starting for some team instead of competing for the 5th OF slot. He still runs very well, and could be effective as a pinch runner or bunter. He is a better rounded professional than Nava.
  15. When all of the outfielders are back healthy, Ellsbury and Crawford should play every day with Sweeney and Ross platooning in RF. The 5th outfielder that I would pick would be Pods, because he can play CF and run. He is a good OBP guy. He brings a dimension that Nava doesn't bring. I'd like to keep Nava because he can put the bat on the ball and he has improved his fielding, but he can only play LF.
  16. Great game by Buchholz tonight. He looks to be right back on track where he was before he broke his back. Gonzo looked to be right on pitches tonight. First time in a long time where he swung the bat well. Hopefully, Dice K can do a good job on Saturday.
  17. Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs. Bush. Hopefully, you can celebrate with a win.
  18. http://blogs.providencejournal.com/sports/red-sox/2012/06/ten-years-after-debut-with-cubs-mark-prior-aiming-for-return-to-major-leagu.html
  19. I'd like an accounting on the win-loss record of posters making game threads. We need to know who is sucking and keep them away from making GT's.
