  1. An interesting and true observation.
  2. Good example. You couldn't find two more opposite guys. Yet, I love them both. They are both a bit looney and idiotic in their views, but they wore the right laundry and entertained me. Lee was a Yankee killer, and better yet, a Yankee hater. Schill killed the Yanks dead twice on the big stage- once for us and once for Arizona. I don't care about their beliefs. They are ex-ballplayers. They don't shape policy in this country. Once they left the ball field, they should be irrelevant to us as baseball fans. The truth is you never heard people on the right attacking Bill Lee for his ideas. People on the left in my experience have very thin skin and little tolerance for opposing points of view. Anyone with a different point of view is an enemy of sorts. That's my opinion and the only political statement that I will make today. I've been working in Manhattan for 25 years and I have lived in NY my entire life. I know them well--many are close family members and friends.
  3. He sold low on a guy that was just starting to develop. He got an OFer who can't run or hit for power and that is only okay at getting on base (Sweeney) and an injury prone reliever. People are always scoffing that closers are over rated and over valued, but people defend Cherries by pointing to how great Bailey can be. He's injury prone with elbow issues. They gave away an OFer with potential with good power who just got some ML time under his belt and did okay in his time for a guy that throws 40 innings and a washed up OF prospect who is at best a 4th OFer. Then he trades a good bat with ML time for another short reliever who has very questionable stuff. Lowrie and Reddick are the number 3 hitters on their team right now. Their new organizations think they are their best hitters. We got a bum who busted after 2 innings, another guy who is missing 3 or 4 months after some incidental contact, and a 4th OFer without a single HR. WOw!!! There is a long way to go for the Sox to come out on the positive side of the ledger on those trades.
  4. Sure we can. We just need to trade our prospects for guys who can perform. We need to make better trades. This Cherries guy traded 2 young players and got garbage in return. When you trade prospects, you should be getting fully formed well-performing professionals like Beckett and Lowell. That's how it is done.
  5. When there is discussion in the media of banning your celebration, i.e. Tebowing as being a violation of the Separation of Church and State, that is a controversy.
  6. The point is that we have been playing well and we haven't picked up ground or moved up the standings. There are no patsies in the ALE, so it will be hard to move quickly up the standings. I don't think anyone expected that the Sox would be in last place as we go into the last week of May.
  7. Speaking for myself. I am not passing final judgment on these moves. I am just noting that right now they look bad. In fact, I can't think of anything that Cherries has done that looks good at this juncture.
  8. I am hearing a lot about how well the Sox have played over the last 2 weeks. Yet, they have made no move in the standings. They are still in last place.
  9. And many fans were thrilled when Benny made those trades, because we were starved for action. He's looking like a f***ing genius.
  10. Jed Lowrie is batting .278 with 7 HRs.
  11. Consistency has been his problem.
  12. There are plenty of people with irritating personalities, especially in sports. Can anyone be more annoying than Bobby V? But he is not a national controversy like Tebow. I really don't see how Tebow is so irritating. He is very humble and soft spoken. He is the opposite of Schilling from a personality stand point.
  13. You just believe in a different boogeyman. You have a tinfoil hat of another color. "Most privileged demographic"? Do they live by a separate set of rules? Do you see how ridiculous that is?
  14. It's the way the politicians can control the masses-- make them fear some boogeyman. It's worked very well for them, so Why stop now.
  15. I thought I spotted BTR in the middle of that scrum.
  16. The tinfoil hats are those who fear that the Christians will take over the government and force everyone to go to church and worship the baby Jesus.
  17. The Press cheers on this abhorrent behavior. Think of all the flap caused by a mediocre QB Tebow because of his kneeling on one knee. Athletes have been thanking the God, Jesus and Allah for 50 years, but it had never before caused such controversy. Tebow's acts were somehow harmful to society and a violation of Church and State. The reason why is caused so much controversy? He and his mom had the effrontery to do a PSA for Right to Life during the Super Bowl two years ago. He will be a target for the rest of his life.
  18. Barney Fife!!
  19. There was a lot going on in that scrum. What were the coaches and managers all worked up about?
  20. It's even worse because he is an avowed Conservative and a devout Christian-- the two groups against which persecution and bullying through mockery is considered cool in today's society.
  21. He can never remember the start time for the games, and he walks out when the Sox are getting trashed.
