  1. That team got eliminated on the final day of the season.
  2. I am not seeing vaccination certificates in our future as a requirement for public travel.
  3. A last place team will never be exciting to watch, but certainly the owners have enough resources to field a competitive .500 team while rebuilding with enough talent to keep viewers interested. They are a zero in the pitching department right now— minor league quality. The few star hitters that we have can’t clime out of the holes that the pitchers dig for them.
  4. Does anyone watch the Tampa Rays? Plus, it is pretty hard to win without star players. Very very hard.
  5. 2004 Chock Full of stars: Pedro, Schilling, Manny, Papi 2007 Chock Full of stars: Schilling, Beckett, Pedroia, Manny, Papi 2013 Stars: Papi, Pedroia, Lester, Ellsbury 2018 Chock Full of Stars: Sale, Price, J.D. Martinez, Betts, Kimbrel, Bogaerts A single star in LF may not bring a championship, but you need stars to win a championship, and no stars equals no excitement.
  6. Stars generate interest. Everybody in town knew the day of the week Pedro was pitching. It was an event. Sale had that. Mookie has star power. This roster doesn’t have anything close to that.
  7. There is always a good market for GMs that win.
  8. I like the bullpen additions, but Porcello has looked pretty cooked over the last 2 years.
  9. I think that the possibility of another abbreviated season and possibly another season without fans in the stands has chilled the FA market and the trade market. The economics of the game was in flux before the pandemic, which has thrown the economics into confusion. I don’t think a big name like Springer or Bauer will come off the board before the middle of January. I don’t think there will be many 3 year contracts signed before January.
  10. Oh, how the Great Pedey has fallen being lumped in other roster players. Damn Manny Machado.
  11. Sorry to hear about that. High population centers like Mexico City present extraordinary challenges to control infectious diseases in a health crisis. Hopefully, you and your family are well. My shopping list for the Red Sox for 2021 would include 2 healthy starters, a couple of strong bullpen arms, DJ to play 1B/2B and Rosario in the OF.
  12. Hey MVP, why didn’t you list Pedey as an option?
  13. He swung a bat that was as big as a tree trunk.
  14. Sure, rub our faces in the fact that you are young! The fact that the stars from the 60's and 70's are dropping like flies makes me feel old and reminds me that I should be getting more regular Doctor's checkups.
  15. He could scorch a baseball, and I remember that he had a pretty good glove around 1B.
  16. Hey, how are you doing? I don't see Bloom spending big bucks, but I would love to see those 2 big bats in the lineup. I am hearing that the Mets new owner is really interested in Springer.
  17. Put Beni in CF, Verdugo in RF, and sign Rosario to play LF.
  18. That guy could play D. His defensive play was off the charts. I loved watching him play, and I was disappointed when they let him walk.
  19. If you wash your hands often and use hand sanitizers, latex gloves aren’t needed, especially if you have the self control not to touch your face. Numbers are spiking because people are going indoors like Jacko said. Most people are wearing masks indoors in public places. I don’t think the behaviors are the problem. It is an increase in indoor activity in public spaces.
  20. He was a very solid performer offensively and a top defender defensively for many years. A good SS is a key component of building a good team.
  21. Gray would look like Pedro to me after the garbage that the Red Sox rolled out to the mound in 2020.
  22. Rosario is a good player. He is a better hitter than Benintendi. Move Beni to CF. The Red Sox have shown interest in free-agent outfielder Eddie Rosario, Morosi tweets. The Twins non-tendered Rosario on Wednesday as opposed to paying him in the $8.6MM to $12.9MM range in arbitration. The power-hitting Rosario would join Alex Verdugo to form Boston’s tandem of corner outfielders.
  23. Take a shot! https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/12/red-sox-interested-in-corey-kluber.html
  24. [h=1]Red Sox Interested In J.A. Happ[/h]By Connor Byrne | November 23, 2020 at 10:01pm CDT The Red Sox are showing interest in free-agent left-hander J.A. Happ, Jon Morosi of MLB Networktweets. They join the Angels, Rangers and Blue Jays as teams known to be eyeing Happ early this offseason.
  25. During the summer, the Red Sox discussed a trade for Kris Bryant. Interesting. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/11/red-sox-cubs-discussed-kris-bryant-trade-over-summer.html
