  1. I see that ownership has taken a beating on Twitter for celebrating the reset. LOL! What a bad move. Let's celebrate that we are in last place and have had a fire sale. Yay!!! https://allfans.co/red-sox-roasted-for-twitter-gaffe-celebrating-luxury-tax-reset/
  2. I am glad that those COVID threads have been locked. IMO, they should be deleted. They are a blight on this forum, and they spilled over to numerous other threads. I asked for the mods to intervene several times, but they were MIA for months. Allowing it in the beginning was a mistake and it spiraled out of control from there. I will make a political analogy and if the mods don't like it and want to ban me, so be it. The dereliction of the mods had the direct effect of turning this once fun forum into the internet equivalent of Portland where night after night we had a riot. If you guys don't want to moderate this forum, maybe you should pass it onto someone else who will look after it.
  3. I wouldn't expect much and we got just that. I would have preferred rolling out Moreland's professional bat for the final month. How much of a travesty team does Bloom want to field in September?
  4. I didn't see any major talent with him.
  5. Mitch Moreland traded to Padres WWW.MLB.COM SAN DIEGO -- If it wasn't clear already, it should be after this weekend: The Padres are contenders. And they're going for it. San Diego acquired lefty slugger Mitch Moreland from Boston on Sunday morning in a deal that sent outfield prospect Jeisson Rosario and infield prospect Hudson Potts to The #16 and 19 prospects for SD, so maybe they are in the top 400 overall.
  6. The organization was very high on him. They were happy to hand him the starting job 2 years ago. It was all his, and he spit the bit.
  7. He should trade himself.
  8. Red Sox should have claimed Carson Fullmer. He was worth a shot.
  9. As Connie Mack said (I am paraphrasing) "You will finish your game, because I don't intend on paying an additional pitcher." If they aren't going to go 5, they aren't worth $20-30 million/year.
  10. My point is that Pivetta stinks. if there is a saving grace to this trade, it will be the minor leaguer. I would have traded Workman and I have said that previously. He had a career season and his value was at a peak, but getting Nick Pivetta was a squander unless the minor leaguer has promise. Hembree was expendable.
  11. A career ERA over 3.60 over 8 seasons is not meaningless for a reliever, nor is a 5.50 ERA for a starting pitcher over 3 seasons.
  12. 5.50 career ERA stinks no matter how you slice it. You just don't stay in the majors very long hanging up that number.
  13. No hugs in the COVID era.
  14. 8 year career ERA of 3.60 by Hembree. 5.50 career ERA for Pivetta. Hembree never had a single season with an ERA as bad as Pivetta’a career ERA. His career worst in a full season was 4.20. You are just being dopey. There is no comparison.
  15. Someone wanted him, which is more than you can say for the rest of the pen after Workman and Barnes. That made him a prize pig. In return we got a guy with a “big league arm” who is a truly awful pitcher. Hopefully, he can give us some innings. It’s like going to a restaurant where the food is lousy but the portions are large. It’s still a s***** meal.
  16. That is really sugar coating it. An ERA in the 4’s would be unimpressive. An ERA in the 5’s is putrid.
  17. He was a prize pig. And he was one of the few major league arms in the bullpen.
  18. He's being outmaneuvered by Cherington on that front.
  19. Maybe he knows something about the minor leaguer that we don't know. Only time will tell. Pivetta can't be worse than the garbage that we are rolling out in the 3rd to 5th slots.
  20. He has been working with a 2 man starting rotation. How has that been working?
  21. I am not sure how Bloom could turn him around as the GM. I know that Pivetta had promise a couple of years ago, but he has had 3 full years -- 2 as a starter. How long does promise last?
  22. I could slot in as our #3 this year. Pivetta has been a bust. He's been healthy, so there are no excuses on that front. He's just not good.
  23. I'll check his Seablold's numbers before I vomit.
  24. But we will have him under tam control for years... or he has big upside potential... or we our baseball people have spotted something in his delivery that can be adjusted. All ********. The guy stinks and we traded our best 2 relievers for him.
  25. You left out fired GM goes to another city several years after the stink has washed off to captain another last place team.
