  1. The old juicer was lucky to get through that inning.
  2. It's nice to have a catcher with a fast release and accurate arm. I am not used to that.
  3. I'd gladly give up the run to open that f***er's stupid face.
  4. I hate Cervelli. I wish Victorino had come into home with spikes flying and opened up Cervelli's face.
  5. Dempster had a tendency toward high pitch counts in the NL. He should not have such a high pitch count against these pukes.
  6. Was I right about Dempster being a soft tosser?
  7. Question: Did anyone think that Victorino gave too much deference to Ellsbury on Nunez GroundRule Double?
  8. He'll be alright. He has a bad flu, but no pneumonia. They sent him home with tami-flu.
  9. The Yankees look like dogshit right now. They could find themselves buried deep in the division very quickly.
  10. I missed the first 6 innings because I was at the ER with my son who got sent to the hospital from work. How did Buchholz look? In the inning that I saw, he was pitching at a very labored pace. he needs to quicken the pace like Lester did on Monday to be consistently successful. I like that Iglesias is making "egg shell skull" Drew irrelevant. He is a waste of $9 million. JBJ still looking refined and patient. Aceves reminds me too much of 2012l. Vernon Wells hit Ace like he used to hit Beckett.
  11. We are all hopeful about the season, but this is a "prediction" thread. If people think they will win the Division, grow a pair and make the prediction.
  12. Aceves has zero history of success as a starter. Webster is our best shot at a guy that could step in and take regular turn. We don't have good depth.
  13. Webster, Aceves or Tazawa could be spotted in for a start or two, but none of them would be good options for a month of starts if someone goes out with an injury.
  14. I liked last years prank better-- the one about Bobby V's chain of restaurants replacing some other chain of restaurants all over Boston. This one was just cruel. It would be like posting an article that the unemployment rate came down to 4% on April 1st-- just mean.
  15. oh, I've been distracted.
  16. This is definitely a highlight for the young 2013 season:
  17. I was referring to pitching depth. That is where we have a problem. We will have to disagree about Napoli being a cleanup hitter.
  18. They need Ortiz in the lineup. Napoli is not a a cleanup hitter for a competitive team. The pitching holds the key to this team. They need to perform and stay healthy. There is no depth behind them. We haven't had our starters stay healthy since 2004 so it is a long shot IMO that we will not have to look for replacement(s) along the way for extended periods.
  19. The Yankees have priced out the average fan. The expensive seats are sold, but they come with access to restaurants and bars etc, so in bad weather games those fans don't go to the seats. As for Benny Boys performance, it is way too early to come to a judgment.
  20. They all have to figure it out at least enough to stay in the majors. Pedey seems to think that Iggy's superior hand eye coordination will result in him being a good ML hitter. That is far from a slam dunk.
  21. The weather is going to be pretty cold in NY the next couple of days. Tomorrow's projected high temperature is 47 degrees. It should be pretty frigid at game time.
  22. Yes, that was missing last year. I saw Ortiz in the dugout yesterday. Has he started running yet? What is the timetable for his return?
  23. In interviews, Pedey has said that he has told Iggy that with his superior hand eye coordination that there is no way he shouldn't be able to hit. I guess Pedey never heard of all the good glove no stick Shortstops like Mark Belanger, Dal Maxvill, etc.
  24. It has been a long time since I have seen such a punchless Yankee lineup. I hope they get buried deep in the standings right from the start.
