  1. WTH were Farrell and Nieves looking at yesterday. On the pitch before his injury, Lackey clearly showed signs of distress, cramping or pain. They should have been out to the mound with the trainer before he threw the next pitch. A little vigilance could have saved Lackey from a lengthy DL stint. In the post game, Farrell admitted to seeing Lackey's reaction on the prior pitch. There's no excuse for him not visiting the mound.
  2. They have to hope that Aceves can seize the moment. He is the backup plan.
  3. The head case Aceves will finally get his chance to lock down a rotation spot.
  4. He was really cruising, throwing nice and easy. He had plenty of innings under his belt in an extended spring training, so he had built arm strength. A post -op pitcher is damaged goods.
  5. Our starting depth will get tested in week 1.
  6. And that is why you cannot count on pitchers returning from surgery. There is always a blip.
  7. I think you should talk to Fred on the phone. And you should have a drink with me the next time I am in Boston. Maybe SFF can come along if you are reluctant.
  8. We have to get used to that. Farrell and the third base coach will send a lot of runners to their deaths on the base paths when it just doesn't make sense. They go against the book a lot.
  9. Lackey looks very good thus far.
  10. I agree with you. I get called out hundreds of times a year for my criticisms of the team and management. What is the big deal? Sometimes it gets nasty. If people would keep the discussion to sports things would not escalate. Today's nonsense was totally uncalled for crap. Fred wasn't even posting when they took after him and his wife. Ridiculous and uncalled for.
  11. I have had occasional telephone conversations with Fred, and he is just a guy who loves to talk about baseball and the Red Sox. He's a very nice man. You should give him a call. I don't think that he won't insult you. As far as s*** about him on the internet, the internet is full of garbage. I wouldn't google his username or anyone else's username.
  12. There's no common ground with people who think they know everything about you. They are too cowardly to take you up on any of the olive branches you have offered. They would never take a call from you or I to discuss the Red Sox, because that might humanize us and they can't let that interfere with their hatred. They are just message board bullies. Scew em. There are enough good people around here that they are just mild annoyances.
  13. You are a huge dick--the only poster that I have on ignore. I have had my problems with the others too, and they and you have had problems with others, so your premise is completely false.
  14. It sounds like Drew will be in the starting lineup tomorrow.
  15. I Papelbon gave us heartburn, this guy Hanrahan walks 4-5 guys per 9 innings. His stuff is overpowering, but the walks will drive us crazy.
  16. I thought Bradley's foot was in there before the tag.
  17. Boni-fiasco strikes again.
  18. Middlebrooks has a live bat.
  19. He's from Wagner College in Staten Island-- a little nothing College that is not known as a baseball factory.
  20. I am pretty sure that it wasn't his wife.
  21. Good trade bait if he doesn't melt down.
  22. He needs to bring an oar or paddle to the plate when he is in one of his helpless streaks.
  23. He has a hard time making contact. It's not a patience problem.
  24. He hung himself with the Yankees too and he had to be read the riot act on the first day of spring training this year. If Farrell thinks he can keep him under control and get something out of him then fine. He has a live arm. But he is the last cancer left over.
  25. Cheaper than Crawford and Reyes plays a premium position.
