  1. He makes some plays going up the middle that other second basemen just can't make, because his arm is so strong. He can throw the ball across his body while moving toward the middle of the diamond.
  2. I think you are under-estimating those aspects of Cano's game. He has excellent range and hands, and he has the best throwing arm of any second baseman.
  3. Very nice play by Nava. That's a much harder play than it looks in that corner.
  4. He tried it once and he said that hitting lefty against a lefty freaked him out.
  5. It's another reason why the game is not as good as before big money free agency. Before big money hit the game, stars could lose their jobs to kids. It wasn't a big deal to sit anyone, because none of them made big money. They didn't have to justify a guy's salary by playing him and hoping he would come out of his slump.
  6. I never thought it was possible for nava to win a full time spot, but he has. He is very adequate in LF or RF and he has learned 1B as well. He makes good contact, has very good OBP and he is showing unexpected power. He has been very very consistent. Playing this well for 2 months is more than a hot streak. Gomes has been a bust. He just can't get started.
  7. Doubront has pitched some great games against the Yankees. Tomorrow is Buch so we have a good shot to take the series.
  8. I think you mean a righty complement to Nava.. ?
  9. Cue the gross pictures.
  10. I have had my share of disagreements with all of your previously banned identities.
  11. You are free to say what you want. It won't be long before you start sending around the gross pictures.
  12. I thought you should know.
  13. Yep, let's narrow it down to big acquisitions. None yet. Let's stop jerking off each other with semantics and get down to a real baseball issue. Does Lester's k/9 rate indicate that he has not found the lost 3 inches of movement on his cutter?
  14. And I didn't correct those facts.
  15. Because they continue to swing from the heels with 2 strikes. Their isn't the slightest thought of just trying to make contact or of choking up on the bat. They expect that 25 HRs will make them millions regardless of their k's.
  16. Not an acquisition is what I would call it. I would call it a huge salary dump.
  17. I didn't ignore anything. I was pointing out an incorrect statement of fact regarding his strikeouts. I didn't give an overall analysis of Lester's performance. Earlier, in noting that his strikeouts were at his 2012 levels, I did ask if this was indicative of not finding the 3 inches of movement he had lost on his fastball.
  18. No, it hasn't been there. We are still waiting. I knew a guy that shopped for a house. He looked at hundreds of homes in good markets and bad, when mortgage rates were high and when they were low. Twenty-five years later he still rents. He always had some excuse for not buying. Was he inclined to buy a house, because he looked at hundreds of them? The inclination is debatable. The fact is that he still has not made a big move.
  19. Inclination or not, we are still waiting for a big bold splashy move.
  20. His strikeouts are essentially the same as last year 7.4/9 innings versus 7.3 for 2012.
  21. What about Gomes, hitting under .200 on June 1st with almost no power production? At least Middlebrooks has some power production.
  22. There's an article in the Globe today that says Lester is trending down after his fast starts. I looked at his numbers and was surprised to see that his k/9 innings is at last year's levels which were down substantially from his peak. I wonder if he has found the 3 inches of movement that he lost on his cutter from 2010. What do you guys think? Was yesterday the Lester we will see for most of the office?
  23. That fat juicer Colon pitched a complete game shutout tonight.
  24. Napoli will not come close to that slash line this year. That was Reynold's best year. He has had a couple of other similar seasons, yet never made close to $13 million in a season. He topped out at $7.5 million.
