  1. Because they continue to swing from the heels with 2 strikes. Their isn't the slightest thought of just trying to make contact or of choking up on the bat. They expect that 25 HRs will make them millions regardless of their k's.
  2. Not an acquisition is what I would call it. I would call it a huge salary dump.
  3. I didn't ignore anything. I was pointing out an incorrect statement of fact regarding his strikeouts. I didn't give an overall analysis of Lester's performance. Earlier, in noting that his strikeouts were at his 2012 levels, I did ask if this was indicative of not finding the 3 inches of movement he had lost on his fastball.
  4. No, it hasn't been there. We are still waiting. I knew a guy that shopped for a house. He looked at hundreds of homes in good markets and bad, when mortgage rates were high and when they were low. Twenty-five years later he still rents. He always had some excuse for not buying. Was he inclined to buy a house, because he looked at hundreds of them? The inclination is debatable. The fact is that he still has not made a big move.
  5. Inclination or not, we are still waiting for a big bold splashy move.
  6. His strikeouts are essentially the same as last year 7.4/9 innings versus 7.3 for 2012.
  7. What about Gomes, hitting under .200 on June 1st with almost no power production? At least Middlebrooks has some power production.
  8. There's an article in the Globe today that says Lester is trending down after his fast starts. I looked at his numbers and was surprised to see that his k/9 innings is at last year's levels which were down substantially from his peak. I wonder if he has found the 3 inches of movement that he lost on his cutter from 2010. What do you guys think? Was yesterday the Lester we will see for most of the office?
  9. That fat juicer Colon pitched a complete game shutout tonight.
  10. Napoli will not come close to that slash line this year. That was Reynold's best year. He has had a couple of other similar seasons, yet never made close to $13 million in a season. He topped out at $7.5 million.
  11. He's a bum. If he could make contact 50 additional times, he'd probably have 125-130 RBI.
  12. Cherries hasn't shown an inclination toward big splashy moves. I don't see him making a deal like this, regardless of the prospects involved.
  13. Doubront pitches very well against the skanks and our ace goes on Sunday. There's a good shot to take the series.
  14. Because the manager is a stubborn ass.
  15. The pressure of cashing those big checks must be enormous.
  16. This team is a k machine on hyper-drive. Productive outs help create runs. They just don't make enough contact.
  17. 10 k's by CC against the Sox is very misleading. These Sox could k 10 times against jamie Moyer. CC would have had 12 or 13 k's if Salty had played.
  18. He's on pace for about 230 strikeouts this season. He is on a record pace. Only 3 players have exceeded the 200 k mark. He's a bum.
  19. But all those strikeouts help him maintain his league lead in the all important pitches per AB category.
  20. Does running for Ortiz make sense there? He' s not the tying run.
  21. Not so much with a torn thumb ligament.
  22. That's how Mo has been pitching for 18 years.
  23. Mo got a gift facing the automatic out Gomes as the first batter.
