there are only 2 realiable guys in the yanks rotation, Mussina and RJ. I dont no how you can say that chacon is a reliable starter. His road era from 2002-2004 was still 4.35. His K/BB ratio also isnt very good at only 1.30 which was tied for 90th best with jose lima.
Pavano might be able to be a solid 4 starter but no one knows how bad his injury was. Jaret Wright is starting to resemble Kevin Brown when he pitched for the Yanks. Wang is still unproven and also had injury problems last year. Hes not as good as everyone thinks he is, maybe a #4 starter at best. Hes another one of those low K pitchers who rely on their defense. Aaron Small had 1 good year in his 13 year career but still has a career ERA of 4.90. Small, Chacon and Wang all rely heavily on good defense. The yankees defense as of now is not very good. Giambi is a huge reliablity at 1st, Damon has the worst arm in the league in CF, Cano is about as good as Soriano defensively at 2nd and Sheffield and Matsui are average corner OF. Jeter is strong at SS and Arod is starting to become a gold glove canidate at 3rd.
The biggest strength of the yankees is still their lineup. their bullpen might be solid if they can stay healthy and pitch to their capability.
Farnsworth has had one good year in his career so far (last year) and still has a career era of 4.45. Sturtze is a decent long reliver but no a good everday guy. Dotel wont be ready till mid june/july and Proctor has had absolutly no sucess in the majors in his career so far. Villone is a wild lefty who most likely will resemble Buddy Groom/Alan Embree of last year. Mike myers is a quality one batter guy who can get out lefties and thats it. Rivera might have to carry the bullpen by himself this year again if Farnsworth falters and Dotel cant come back healthy.
Lot of ifs with the Yankees, but unfortunatly there are more ifs with the Sox
