Johnson=Schilling
Beckett>Mussina (mussina is old and injuries have hurt him)
Wakefield>Chacon (no need to explain)
Papelbon>Wang
Clement=Pavano (dont no how either will do next year)
The redsox also might add Millwood
the yankees have made NO effort in getting a starter.
The white sox and astros were in the world series last year because they had the 2 best rotations in baseball
theres been so many annoying yankees fans joining the site the last 3 days. I say ban all of them that just talk s*** about the Sox and say how the yankees are soooo good now.
Now they have 4 possible MLB catchers and only have room for 2. One of them is Varitek, so Huckaby and/or Flaherty will be cut after spring training and shoppach could be traded or dominate AAA for another year
the rangers have already offered him 3 yrs/30 mil, which is obviously not going to get it done with boras. Id go to about 4 yrs/42-44 million at the most for him.
anyone know if the Sox or Orioles are on his limited no-trade?
this kinda reminds me of the Beckett deal. The day before that happened the Rangers were pretty much a lock to get him, with the redsox as the 2nd option.
I dont see why this trade to the Blue Jays would happen. There is no need for him. The Jays would also probaly have to give him either a bonus, a contract extension or the addition of an option year in order for him to waive his no-trade to Toronto.
Damon sounds so bad during press conferences. He needs someone to teach him how to speak. He says "um.." every other word. He sounds retarded.
Also, anyone else notice him say that the redsox are "dismantling"
hes not a bad player. Hes been to the allstar game twice in his carreer and was having a decent year last year before he was traded to the cubs then to the yankees. Hes a good 4th OF now and an OK starter
Jones=$13,000,000
VS.
Foulke=$7,500,000
Manny=$19,806,820
------------------------------------
difference of 14,306,820
so there is an issue with salaries
wat are the blue jays going to do now?? Overbay will DH Koskie will play third and theyll have to get rid of 2 capable 3B/1B in Hinske and Hillenbrand. Whos going to play 2nd for them. I would not get rid of Hudson for another corner infielder who cost 9 million a year. Not worth it for the Jays
It makes sense in a way. The braves need a closer (Foulke) and a LF (manny). They have no room in the future OF for Johnson because of Francoeur and Langerhans. I could see them dealing Jones since his contract is up after next season. They also have a solid CF in Josh Burrus to replace Jones.
i dont like it either. Manny and Tejada are allstars every year. Prior is a talented, injury prone pitcher who has yet to prove much. Id want Ronny Cedeno or Felix Pie also in return
a couple days before Damon signed, the orioles were reportedly about to offer a 5-6 year deal to him
when asked about the bigger offer he got, he said he wanted to play for a contender. So the Orioles were most likely it, unless a team like the tigers jumped in
