  1. Herman Edwards out as Jets Coach I think hes the best available coach available now. Good fit for KC after losing Vermeil. I think Mike Sherman and Haslett are the next best options for coaching replacements. I think Tice should go to a college to coach. Capers, Martz and Norv Turner should only be assistant coaches in the NFL. I could see Martz or Turner going to San Diego or somewhere else to become am O coordinator.
  2. new manny deal being discussed at Gotham Baseball The Mets would get Manny Ramirez (and his whole contract). The Rays would get Aaron Heilman and Anderson Hernandez. The Red Sox would get Lastings Milledge, Danys Baez and Julio Lugo. http://www.gothambaseball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2002 Only problem i have with the deal is, we have no one to bat behind or infront of Ortiz now.
  3. sounds like this is a false rumor. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2006/01/no_way_on_3way.html gordan edes says it aint happening
  4. still hope the original deal of clement and manny for miggy can get done. No matter what deal the Orioles make, it sounds like they will have Miggy gone by the end of the week. The sox are still supposedly the front runner.
  5. ESPN currently has Timlin as the sox Closer http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2279057
  6. Ohman's stats from last year ERA---- G-----IP-----BB----SO 2.91--- 69---43.1----24-----45
  7. Im guessing the PTBNL is a mid level to low level prospect. It would probally be a Jeremy West or Matt Van Der Bosch
  8. from MLB trade rumors These deal is fine with me. Tony G and Alex Cora are basically the same thing, with Tony G being a better hitter. Arroyo has no use in the rotation as we have 6 guys there. Ohman gives us an other lefty option in the bullpen. This is a good deal for the sox.
  9. Interesting Article that will be in the NY Times tommorow about how the O's lost Burnitz http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/04/sports/baseball/04burnitz.html
  10. i think it was made in Feburary 2005, but ya i completley agree with you. They are missing a lot of guy who are easily better than some of the people on there. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=3773
  11. The FO has to be ready to kill Manny after what hes put them through so far. This whole offseason was based around Manny, they centered most of their attention around Manny. Now, they finally have a legitamate chance at giving him his wish, and he uses his 10/5 powers to decline it. If he wants his two option years picked up, no one will trade for him. He wanted to get of Boston so much and he had his chance and doesnt want to take it. Why cant Manny just go to Baltimore, forgot about the extension, just go to Baltimore where you will be out of Boston, which was his only request.
  12. probaly wont be more than a back up but hes a nice guy to keep since we dont have many 1st base prospects (Bladergroden and Egan only ones i can think of)
  13. first move of the offseason for the Astros. He'll play left and Berkman will move 1st. rotoworld is saying the contract is for one-year, $4 million with a three-year club option.
  14. also, Jeremy West wasnt part of the Van Buren deal. It was some guy named Matt Ciaramella (http://www.soxprospects.com/ex-players/ciaramella-matt.htm). Probally wont be any better than a 4th or 5th OF
  15. i like the idea of patterson to, but he cant lead off or bat anywhere in the top of the lineup. Hes career OBP is an awful .293. He strikes out way to much and doesnt get enough walks. He does have 30 hr/30 sb potential though and is only 26. Maybe bat him 8th or 9th, but I think hes just as good as Matos
  16. the astros are closing in on signing wilson
  17. ya its official pittsburgh post-gazette
  18. as long as we keep marte, pedroia, lester and papelbon im happy. I dont know who you could get in return for the #1 prospect of 2005. All this Marte for Joey Gathright stuff is crap. 19. I was thinking they could go after Wells now that they got rid of Glaus's salary. I also saw somewhere recently that they were trying to move Green or Gonzo for pitching, so they can let Carlos Quentin play RF.
  20. 1. They need to make this deal happen by the end of the week and they then need to worry on making only a few other moves. I also think they should get matos in the deal to play CF. He is a very good CF who can cover a lot of ground. Id be fine with him batting 9th in the lineup. over the last 3 years hes had a BA of .270 (only reason its that low is because of his 2004 season when he hit .224 and missed half of the year with injuries) and an OBP of .328. They are not great numbers, but are good enough for him to bat 9th. Its a much better option than to trade someone like marte for gathright. scouting report on Matos 2. Trade David Wells and maybe Alex Cora or a prospect for an OF(Shawn Green, J.D. Drew, worst possibilty Ryan Klesko or Dave Roberts) 3. Sign a Right-handed OF to platoon with Trot. 21. The o's want to give Markakis a chance to play everday next year, so i dont see them giving him up. Just make the deal for Tejada and Matos. Markakis probally isnt MLB ready yet anyway.
  22. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette although they are overpaying for a below-average, old OF in Burnitz, its probaly an upgrade over Wilson. If their young pitching staff can pitch well, the Pirates will be a pretty solid team this year. this deal also means Preston Wilson will probaly sign with the Astros.
  23. quote from someone over on orioleshangout.com that sounds like something the d-rays front office would offer.
  24. the deal probaly wont happen anyway since the Orioles probaly wont want to give Manny a 2 year contract extension
  25. all the orioles fans are pissed over there. I dont no why its a pretty even trade. Manny will put up better offensive of numbers and clement can give them a decent #2 pitcher.
