  1. ken rosenthal posted this around 3 hours ago. rotoworld also says that a deal with the reds fell through at the last minute which took bard and riske out of the deal and now its just mota and marte for crisp. I really would have wante riske and bard's not bad either. What happen to the two low level prospects???
  2. if we can get Brad Snyder and Nick Pesco as the prospects, Id be a little more pleased with this deal. hopefully they'll be some sort of official anouncement tommorow
  3. he had almost the same type of season in 2005 as he did in 2004, except for less K's
  4. i like crisp, but i dont like giving up marte. I think he'll have a pretty good year here, but id rather keep marte.
  5. then crisp should have had 80 BB's. scouting report on crisp If michaels got 600 AB's last year, he would have had the second highest WARP for any CF in baseball.
  6. whats more important in a lead-off hitter?? speed, power, athleticism OR ability to get on base and plate discipline
  7. from rotoworld atleast me and ksushi aren't the only ones
  8. im not saying michaels is better than crisp but would you rather A.) Trade Mota and one of the best prospects in baseball for Crisp OR B.) Trade Mota straight up for a guy who will give you the same production ??
  9. because lofton had a great year last year. The one problem with michaels is that he has an off-the field problem. Something about getting in a fight with a cop.
  10. isn't fenway hitter friendly?? Its not like these guys need to hit HR's. They need to get ON-BASE, which michaels is much better at doing than Crisp. Last year michaels had 45 K's and 44 BB. Crisp had 81 K's and 44 BB. I dont think the park will change those stats.
  11. all we know is the Guardians, who will be in need of LF after dealing Crisp, will trade Mota, Rhodes or Riske to Phil. for Michaels. Mota, Seanez, Tavarez = Mota, Riske, Rhodes Crisp = Michaels crisp career totals = .287 avg, .332 obp, .424 slug%, .755 ops, .986 fielding % (185 games in CF), 2.360 RF and a .887 ZR michaels career totals = .291 avg, .380 obp, .442 slug%, .822 ops, .984 fielding % (140 games in CF), 2.490 RF and a .867 ZR doesnt make sense at all
  12. then how could the Guardians get michaels for just Mota or another decent reliever???
  13. Absolutely agree with you. I think Michaels and Crisp are about the same talent wise. Its just that Michaels only gets 300 AB's a year. Michaels also has a MUCH better OBP than crisp. Crisp's career obp is .332 while michaels is .380. The fact the Guardians are getting michaels for just mota sucks. http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/phi/stats/phi_individual_stats_player.jsp?playerID=346859 http://www.rotoauthority.com/2005/11/center_fielders.html hes a better 1-2 hitter than crisp and a better fielder with a good arm. Ive been hearing all along the in order to get michaels, we'd have to trade arroyo and mota. If we could have gotten him for just mota, that is horrible on the front offices part.
  14. why not just deal mota for michaels?? He's a solid CF who doesnt get enough playing time in philly who really could be a good player. And the biggest part of this, WE KEEP OUR BEST PROSPECT. http://www.rotoauthority.com/2005/11/center_fielders.html
  15. hmmm, wonder who the two "low-level minor leaguers are" and what minor league pitcher were giving up. im guessing we give up Randy Beam and we get Nick Pesco and Matt Whitney. Just a guess...
  16. buster olney's lineup prediction for the sox
  17. from rotoworld on dec. 29 Agree with you on him being back by late may or june. Dont rush him unless you really need help in the pen. We saw last year when the sox brought up Wade Miller earlier than planned. A month later he was back on the DL.
  18. tavarez is more consistent. I guess they're atleast even. But with dotel not coming back untill july, tavarez is more important. No one knows if he'll even be healthy enough to pitch then. last 3 years they have both been even tavarez 3 year total--3.20 era dotel 3 year total--3.12 era Also, how are Varitek and Posada even?? I know posada is a good catcher, but no where near as valuable than Varitek. Varitek has a .283 avg, .369 obp and .495 slug% over the last 3 years. Posada has a .271 avg, .385 obp and a .475 slug%. His obp may be better, but defensively Varitek is much better. He is one of the smartest guys in baseball who is great at managing games for his pitchers.
  19. wells isnt gone and i dont know were to put papelbon yet. Since the sox havn't and probably wont be trading arroyo, clement or wells by the start of spring training, papelbon really has no spot yet, unless they decide to go with no lefty in the bullpen.
  20. id like to see them go after edge too. would the cardinals give up fitzgerald or boldin for dillon?? maybe dillon for jerry porter??
  21. they could probably package Youk and Arroyo for a firstbase guy like young, sweeney or huff
  22. Dimitri Young, Mike Sweeney, Sean Casey and Aubrey Huff will probably be available at the trade deadline. Also Todd Helton could also be traded
  23. i dont hate the deal, but im not really excited about it either. Crisp is a good player who should be a good fit with the red sox but im not sure how he'll do leading off. I guess If you look at it as Renteria and Harvey Garcia for Crisp, it looks like a very good deal for the Sox.
  24. Just for fun, my opinion of the sox vs. yankees position wise. Varitek > Posada Giambi > Youk Cano = Loretta Arod > Lowell Jeter > Gonzalez/Cora Manny > Matsui Damon > Crisp Sheffield > Nixon Ortiz > Bernie?? 1st--Snow > Andy Phillips INF--Cora > Escalona OF--Crosby > redsox 4th OF (we should end up with some one pretty good in a Tony G trade) UTIL--Cairo = Harris C--Stinnett > Flaherty Schilling = R Johnson Becket > Mussina Wells > Wang Wakefield > Chacon Clement = Pavano Rivera > Foulke Farnsworth = Timlin Arroyo > Sturtze Tavarez > Dotel Myers = Dinardo Seanez > Villone/Proctor Sox--11 Yankees--7 Same--7
  25. alright how about saurbeck instead
