Hopefully Marte is a bust and he plays like he did in winterball this year. This trade sucks because we got marte, maybe the best prospect in baseball, for an average SS. Crisp is more valuable than Renteria, but not as important as Marte might be. You could be trading a future Miguel Cabrera for decent CF. And the fact we give them Mota too is awful. Hopefully we get Blake, Dubois or Snyder to become our 4th OF. Theo coming back might have made things worse. I think the Gonzalez signing is a good move. how about arroyo, mota and a mid-level prospect for Crisp. If their only interest is marte, than the red sox shouldnt even be talking to them unless theyd give up sizemore (theres probably about a 2% chance they would deal away sizemore no matter whos involved). If we did get crisp, where would he bat?? He's .332 career obp isnt good enough to bat leadoff and we already have loretta to bat 2nd. I would say he'd have to bat 7 or 8 unless youk has trouble getting on-base. i think youk we'll have around a .380 obp. The redsox aren't really in need of a lead-off hitter. If youk can't get on base (which i dont think is a problem) the sox would be better off tradinf for a Randy Winn or Milton Bradely before the trade deadline. For now they could look into maybe Jeff DaVanon, who has a career obp of .348. The other option is to trade wells for roberts or arroyo for reed. DONT GIVE UP MARTE. lineup with davanon 1. Youk 2. ya the only way hes making the team is if willie harris and tony grafannino both get hurt. I wouldnt mind him in AAA so if we do need a utility guy, we can call him up.

the only way they can get a RH OF is through a trade. The only possible FA i could see them trying to platoon Nixon with is Jamaal Strong. They would have better options if they trade graffanino for a 4th OF.

its an average SP for a hall of fame OF who put up good number last year. The problem is that he is old, very injury prone and has a huge contract. However IF he stays healthy, this would be a steal for the sox. Interesting to see what happens.

Hall and De la Rosa or Capellan for Clement and Graffanino sounds like a good deal for both sides. The brewers getting there SP they need with the sox filling a hole at SS.
