1. There not going anywhere for the next 3-4 years. They have NO chance at beating the Pistons or any of the other much more talented teams out there.
2. Boston Globe Trade makes alot of sense for the Bruins. play Arnason and Bell with Murray. Keep the Bergeron/Sturm/Boyes line and the Primeau/Ibister/Axelsson lines the same and then have some combination of Travis Green/Tom Fitzgerald on the 4th line.
3. im thinking Wally's gonna have a big game tonight against his former team. Kinda off-topic but there was a proposed trade made by Sam Smith today in the Chicago Tribune involving Pierce... Celtics get--Chris Duhon, Ben Gordon, Eric Piatkowski and Tim Thomas, Bulls' No. 1 pick Bulls get--Pierce and Raef LaFrentz i dont think its been discussed actually by the 2 teams, but I'd LOVE for this trade to be true. also heard the C's might give Will Bynum a ten day contract
4. offseason's not don yet. Id guess atleast one more pitcher gets moved from mlbtraderumors
5. MLB.com article on David Riske.
6. 5 Reasons why the Sox should sign Gonzalez... 1. Cora's Stats on the Road last year--.230 avg--.248 obp--.348 slg--.596 ops (his home stats wernt much better either, but coming to Boston helped him) A. Gonzalez's total Stats last year--.264 avg--.319 obp--.368 slg--.686 ops (had very similar stats at home as he did away) 2. In 2004 Gonzalez hit 23 HR in one of the most pitcher friendly stadiums in baseball. 3. At age 28, he has much more upside than Cora with the bat, and papa jack could really help him. 4. Considered to be one of the top 3 defensive SS in baseball. 5. Total games at SS from 2003-2005= Cora--50 games, Gonzalez--432 games. Sign him to a 2 or 3 year deal, which should be enough time to get Jed Lowrie ready for MLB. Loretta (34 years old) should and will most likely only be here for 1 year, which means Pedroia will be the starting 2nd baseman next year. I would still give Pedroia some playing time at SS in AAA in case Gonzalez and Cora both suck.
7. The one thing Gonzalez lacks is discipline, which is supposedly papa jacks specialty. He has 25 HR potential playing in the AL in Fenway Park. Hes better defensivley than Cora, who hasnt played that much SS over the last 4 years compared to Gonzalez. Gonzalez has much more upside to cora. We saw the best of cora last year who is a career backup IF.
8. He has no where else to go, so the Sox should be able to get him easily. If he wants to start, he'll have to come to Boston for whatever they offer.
9. they need to find a CENTER for the Murray(when he gets back, thursday)/Samsonov line. They both havn't had a consistent C to play with since the thorton trade. There have been 2 good lines that are playing well lately and shouldn't be changed, the: Bergeron/Sturm/Boyes line and the Primeau/Ibister/Axelsson line. Their defense is improving and has a lot of depth (Leetch, Stuart, Boynton, Tanabe, Slegr, Gill, Jurcina, Alberts) and their goaltending with Hannu and Thomas will be really good.
10. My projected lineup for start of the season... LINEUP 1. Coco Crisp—CF—S 2. Mark Loretta—2B—R 3. David Ortiz—DH—L 4. Manny Ramirez—LF—R 5. Trot Nixon—RF—L 6. Mike Lowell—3B—R 7. Jason Varitek—C—S 8. Kevin Youkilis—1B—R 9. Alex Gonzalez—SS—R (will hit 20+ HR’s this year if signed by the Sox and is a much better option at SS than Cora. He is one of the top 3 SS in the league defensively.) BENCH John Flaherty—C—R Dustin Mohr—OF—R Alex Cora—IF—L J.T. Snow—1B—L Willie Harris—UTIL—L BULLPEN LRP—Bronson Arroyo—R MRP—David Riske—R MRP—Rudy Seanez—R SU—Mike Timlin—R SU—Julian Tavarez—R CL—Keith Foulke—R ROTATION 1. Curt Schilling—R 2. Josh Beckett—R 3. Tim Wakefield—R 4. Matt Clement—R 5. Jon Papelbon—R im hoping wells gets trade to S.D. for a couple of quality propsects or maybe part of a deal involving Mirrabelli
11. he would have been a good fit for the Yanks. Even though he is awful defensively, he can still hit. He could have been good as a DH batting 7th for the Yankees.
12. i was looking at the box score of the game and noticed that some how Brian Scalabrine took a team high 7 threes in 13 minutes. Why does he play? He might be the worst basketball player in the Atlantic Division. He is so goofy looking running around and is so uncoorinated.
13. from hoopsbuzz.com
14. the bullpen will be very different next year. Delcarmen, Hansen, Martinez, Van Buren, Dinardo and possibly Merideth.
15. only 2 Gp W L OTL Pts 6. Tampa Bay 50 27 20 4 58 7. New Jersey 51 26 20 6 58 8. Montreal 48 23 20 6 52 9. Toronto 49 24 22 4 52 10. Atlanta 51 23 23 6 52 11. Boston 50 21 22 8 50 12. Florida 51 20 24 8 48
16. tough lose tonight. Canadies won in OT agaisnt the Leafs, so montreal has 52 points along with Toronto. Atlanta lost again though.
17. redsoxprospects.com's 2007 projected lineups-- http://www.soxprospects.com/2007.htm
18. hes suposed to be very good. Hes only 17 so will se what happens with him
19. i guess the C's are also interested in Flip Murray. Do we really need him and what would it take to get him? Raef??
20. it took me untill 2 last time, just keep waiting i guess.

22. i had to wait untill 2 untill i could get tickets for the red-sox four packs back in december
23. Crisp has a rap on this CD called "we got that thing". hes going to have to compete with arroyo to see whos got better music
24. hopefully bard will end up backing up v-tek instead of flaherty. Earlier in the off season, the Padres were trying to get Bard to be there starter. He seems to be like a younger Mirrabelli. Hes been a good AAA player but only played in 34 games last year because of victor martinez. If he does catch Wake and does what mirrabelli did last year, he'd probably get around 50 games. bard scouting report-- http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/B/josh-bard.shtml
