  1. If I had my way, I would deal Wright for Pierre, who I think will rebound nicely next season. I'd rather have Giambi play the field everyday, cuz cmon, it's first base.
  2. If he had said that comment while wearing a Red Sox or Yankee uni, he owulda been destroyed. Witness Keith Foulke. If you wanna play in environments like ours, then you need to develop an extremely thick skin to all the political BS that goes on.
  3. great for the Red Sox. Now maybe they can trade Wells to the DBacks for the closer tha they need in Brandon Lyon and complete the fleecing from the Schilling deal. Meanwhile the Yankees will offer Robinson Cano and Chien Ming Wang and the DBacks will still turn down the deal
  4. I agree with your post. except the part about Cashman being George's bitch. I've worked for demanding bosses before, and when they would yell at me, I'd just brush it off my shoulders. Doesn't make anyone a bitch to take s*** as long as it pays the bills for those you love and yourself.
  5. I think your best option is Billy Wagner. BJ Ryan is better, but his preference is to goto the Yankees, and you know noones gonna outbid us. Guardado is one of those closers that just seems like would get killed. He doesnt have the best stuff in the world, but I will say that he has pretty good composure.
  6. well given the comments he made at the end of last season, I don't know if he has it mentally. if he thinks it was bad in Florida, wait till he catches a whiff of a losing April in NY or Boston.
  7. I thought Hansen or Papelbon was going to get a look. DiNardo also looked pretty good out there when I saw him. Had good composure, he might have the best mental makeup to handle the closer job.
  8. I've seen several articles written about the upcoming FAs and a few of them are touting AJ Burnett as a guy who cant win in the AL. Thoughts?
  9. My only request is that they not schedule any Red Sox-Yankee games until May. April is wayyyy too early to get so jacked up for a series. baseball is supposed to be a relaxed game that you can watch and relax, but we all know its different when our teams hook up. I'd rather save that intensity for at least past April (specially since the Yanks got some octogenarians in our rotation who seemingly needs like a month to warm up those brittle brones of theirs)
  10. I personally think the Sox should goto one of those young arms they had late in the regular season. They were pretty impressive, though I'll admit not many youngsters start as full time closers with the exception of afew
  11. That ALCS wiped me out. Hell the 2003 one nearly killed me. I'm not sure if I can take another ALCS between our two clubs.
  12. wow, he was a pretty annoying bugger. I don't think I've even been that annoyed at a Red Sox fan before. He reminded meof the short, hypersensitive guy who will kill you if you mention anything about height.
  13. Ouch. hey ChiTown, are you Denzel Washington? Cuz I think you just got burned. Oh my that was a bad joke. http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B00024YV3Q.03.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
  14. nods, we've at least moved away from the 5+ year contracts. If Cashman were left up to his own schemes, he would work with Gene Michael (the architect of the farm system that spawned jeter, Mo, etc.) and we would have a solid small-ball team. Unfortunately, we got idiots in Tampa Bay who sips wine with Georgie and come up with brilliant decisions like lowballing Petite, and passing on Vlad for Sheff. I think if both ownerships left Theo and Cashman alone, we as fans would be much more happy and wouldn't wind up with contracts or acquisitions that don't make sense.
  15. Just be glad that I am not as quick as you to generalize and lump all fans in one category, nor do I let my feelings of distate for some fans turn me off to a team. I still like the White Sox, still think they had a really good team. I can only hope that not all White Sox fans are as "mature" as you
  16. Thank you.
  17. pissy? in case you forgot, I've been predicting a sweep of the Astros by the White Sox, and have really enjoyed watching the Series and the White Sox. Hell I even made a thread about it discussing that I was actually enjoying this series. The comment about them being unknown is that maybe you know them and follow them because they are part of your little world, but to the rest of the country, they are unknown. take a look at the ratings. I didn't disparage the effort of the team, which is something that you are always quick to do with our teams. Do me a favor, next time I speak about baseball, stay out of the discussion because you have zero ability to discuss anything objectively. I thought your overreaction to my Hulk Hogan comment was an anomaly, but I can see it's standard behavior for you. Good day
  18. I don't disagree with your comments riverside. However, Cashman was instrumental in securing the surrounding pieces to those products of our farm system. Bernie, Mo, Derek, Andy and Jorge were only five people from a 25 man multi-championship roster that Cashman was responsible for filling up. This year we stunk it up in the playoffs because some moves didn't work out. In the last 9 years, we've won been to the World Series 6 times. Seems like a pretty good accomplishment to me. Yeah we have the money, but like you pointed out in your own post, money doesn't buy championships, or we woudla won this year. =T
  19. This was about the worst thing that Fox execs were thinking. a 4 game sweep by one unknown team over another unknown team. Combine that with the Miers withdrawal, 2,000 dead in Iraq and looming indictments, this must be the worst week of Rupert Murdochs draconian life
  20. I agree, well not about the Konerko part. Though if their pitching can still be consistent, and no major injuries, I would say they have a real good chance next year
  21. hahahah, man I love Ozzie.
  22. announcements should be coming today or tomorrow since the Series is over.
  23. btw, i agree that Theo should get more money. Experience has nothing to do with it when u compare him to the previous moron running the show in Boston. I simply disagree with the notion that he is better than Cashman
  24. Cashman won 3 world series in a row starting out.
