    I did think it was a bit tacky with all the slef-promotion Ortiz was doing for the MVP. But hey, I guess he's just wearing his emotions on his sleeve. Funny how when Damon does that, SOME of the fans who used to love him so much now turn on him.

    I personally dont see why you have to trade Manny in the first place. The guy produces regardless of the potential distracitons. You will never get equal value for Manny, so whatever you get back in return is gonna be a downgrade. At least you get a player with huge upside in David Wright, plus he fills a hole in your offense and defense. And if you lok at it another way, if the Mets pay 14 mil a year for remainder of Manny's contract, that would make Wright's salary equal to about 6 or 7 mil a year, since he isn't eligible for arbitration for a few years I believe. Not a bad price to pay for a young guy with .306 BA 27 HR 102 RBI and 17 SB. Holy smokes, I didnt realize he was that good. The Mets would be nuts to trade that! LOL

    I think we'll come back strong tomorrow, I havent seen Randy lit up liike that before, not even during his worse stretches this season. I got a feeling he was tipping his pitches. The Angles must have the best reader of those type of things, I remember in 2002 hearing quite a few rumors that the Angels were eithe rstealing signs or really good at reading the opposing pitchers.

    I;d be surprised if they trade for Beltran's salary. Probably a more likely deal would be trading for David Wright and a couple of young arms, and have the Mets split manny's salary with Boston.

    I'm feeling pretty bummed about the series, my only consolation is that the Red Sox got swept. The Angels made it look like batting practice against us tonight. I had visions of 2002, it's not even funny. If they had some decent starting pitching, I would actually be afraid of them (not to say I aint already)

    well in 2271 ABs, he has 733 Ks. Thats a K every 3.1 AB. Assuming he has 600 ABs a year, that would put him at 193 ks per season.

    I don't know if you can get both Adam Dunn and Aubrey Huff since I htink both are under contract.

    Huff is a significant downgrade form manny though. Damon, Rent, Ortiz, Huff doesn't really scare me

    He asked for the fans to boo him. This is a quote form his press conference yesterday "At times this year, I felt that with the Yankee crowd. But I think as a visiting player, I felt more hostility, and I fed off of that. And so, if they want to boo me, then boo me, or cheer me, but do something, because I feed off that, and I have pretty much my whole career."

    from what I see, everyone on that team regards him as the leader anyway. If I were a conspiracy type guy, I would say Varitek got the nod cuz he's white due to Boston's racial rep, but that would be a very foolish and inflammatory statement.

    btw, I think the Fox excustives are sending ninjas to the umpires houses for the Angels-Yankees series. Can you imagine if the Angels somehow manage to win and we wind up with a White Sox-Angels ALCS? figure skating would probably get better ratings!
