  1. if AJ scores, then I guess that sets up the 3 run game winner by Manny.
  2. BTW, Manny has 2 HRs in the game. As far as I know, he's been teh star of the elimination game for the Red Sox so far.
  3. I cant believe it takes a Yankee fan to realize that if one guy gets on in the bottom, it sets up Ortiz for the game winner HR. You heard it here first, I can't imagine the Red Sox getting swept.
  4. no he didn't, but he did apologize for it
  5. oh yeah, the guy's definetely gonna get the Bonds treatment. Though if teams were smart, they'd give him the unintentional/intentional walk each time and hope that Ortiz will swing at something out of the zone in desparation
  6. If Manny batted 3rd and Ortiz batted 4th for an entire season, wouold Ortiz still put up those kind of numbers? The Fox crew alluded to it that ortiz struggled in the 4 spot because he was trying too hard. Any truth to that?
  7. All you need to know about David Wells is that he quit on the team during the World Series. He is one of those players that you can only tolerate if hes winning for you. Once he is off your team or not effective, you just wanna get rid of him ASAP
  8. I kinda agree. Clement has just looked bad on a few occassions I saw him. Looked bad in the beginning and the end, so I'm not sure a move to the bullpen will help
  9. How did Ortiz perform when he was batting behind Manny?
  10. yeah, but for Jeremi Gonzalez??
  11. if Manny leaves, I predict a 30 HR 110 RBI year for Ortiz without Manny protecting him plus 150 Ks as he tries to overcompensate for the lack of Manny's bat
  12. no, this isn't meant to be a troll thread or anything. I just think that from looking at the numbers alone, Manny has had a comparable year to Ortiz. Look at their stats Manny - .292 45 144 112 .982 (OPS) Ortiz - .300 47 148 119 1.001(OPS) Now you factor in the fact that Ortiz has Manny's numbers protecting him in the lineup and Manny has absolutely no protection at all, yet he had 144 RBIs! I know Ortiz is much loved, but I dont hear enough about the credit that absolutely Manny deserves. My opinion is Manny was even more important to the Sox lineup than Ortiz, obviously I didnt watch the team the hwole year, so Red Sox fans are invited to prove me wrong.
  13. Arod had 20 stolen bases plus a BA 21 points higher than Ortiz.
  14. Yes, but its impossible to say 2 starting pitchers are responible for 17 wins in a 20 game stretch when they will at most pitch probbaly 8 times during that span.
  15. Good points. Steroids won't make you have the determination to come back from all those injuries nor the mental toughness to endure all the crap he brought on himself with his cheating. Do I think he is absolutely 100% clean? Without blood tests for HGH, we can never tell. However I do know Giambi worked his ass off (with or without steroids) and overcame a lot of adversity (agaion, all his own fault) to get to where he is today.
  16. Hard to say 2 starting pitchers are responsible for 17 wins in 20 games. It's kind of a stretch in your argument
  17. From what i've seen of your team, if there is a game 5, I would give the ball to Papelbon. Arroyo seems like a 50/50 chance of stinking up the joint everytime he takes the ball. Paplebon has looked pretty good against us for the most part. I'm still surprised Dinardo got left off the roster. The guy was just impressive when I saw him
  18. Graff is from NY, maybe hes a Yankee plant =P
  19. ROd SMart, he used it for his jersey name in the XFL. I think he's on the Panthers right now
  20. thanks guys. Yeah I tried out SoSh and some other sites, but it wasn't a really good fit. The Sox fans here seem pretty rational from some of the discussions I've read. And Paulie is the greatest Yankee of our generation, screw the numbers (even though his arent that bad)
  21. The guy was terrible in NY this year. Going to Boston would be just as bad for him, as I think he's definetely a small market guy. He might be another Edgar Renteria in the making if he goes there, just on a more expensive and grandiose scale
  22. Rivera should win it. Hes the only one whos had a consistent and dominant season
  23. Congrats to Giambi. The guy was money for us in the second half.
  24. My money is on A-Rod, but then again I'm a Yankee fan. As someone said before, if Arod was in Boston and Ortiz was in the Bronx, the arguments wouldbe completely flipped. Both guys have a great case to win it. I wouldn't be upset if Ortiz pulled it out. I think theres a decent chance Mo might cut into some of Arod's votes and hand Ortiz the victory. Don't be surprised to see Mo finish top 5 in the MVP
