SO is Arod a pussy for being hit by a guy wearing body armor? Gee I don't know, I always that the guy who aint wearing body armor is braver than the guy whos fights liek a girl and wears protection all the time. Silly me.

I wouldn't have hit the man with my hand while it's wearing a catcher's mitt. The man's a switch hitter right? He's got power in both arms, if he was really fighting, why didn't he try to PUNCH him?

So i'm guessing all of you who talk s*** about Arod would of taken all the time to just get tagged out in the playoffs and not try hard as you can to win right? Sure you would of. None of you must of ever been in a playoff game before, that s*** happens fast. You're down points, you're trying to fight your way back, things move quickly, and you forget what is around you and you focus on getting on base. The object of a game is to WIN, not to have a nice and fair boxing match.

yup, because we've all had fights with men who wear protective gear. Have you even been in a fight before? The guy wearing the armor and facemask got in a GLOVE hit, he didnt use his fist, he tried to slap him, not punch him. That's how chicks fight, with protective gear, and slapping people. I'm sure Tek woulda pulled Arod's hair if he was tall enough.

I'm just waiting to see what snide and crass remarks the Boston players will make about this. Will we get another holier than thou, better teammate from Kevin Millar? Or will Ortiz give us another speech about how defense doesn't mean anything when you can hit. Maybe this time he can give his speech to all the FSN channels and ESPN. Obvisouly all his TO like slef promotion antics didnt influence the writers enough

Manny struck out 119 times, and that was probably due to him overcompensating for the scrubs hitting behind him. Ortiz meanwhile whiffed 124 times. I never said Ortiz would be lackluster, .295 30 HR, 100 RBI is NOT lackluster. Both Manny and Ortiz got 9 Intentional walks.

So because Ortiz plays the happy go lucky "baseball has been veddy veddy good to me" role, you guys like him more than the loudmouth Dominican who just can't keep his mouth shut. That's a good bar to have to determine who is best for your team, certainly worked out well when you got rid of the other loudmouth, Pedro. How about you give me a break, and tell me how you get from "Ortiz gets help from Manny" to "Manny turns scrubs into awesome hitters". Who is underrating Ortiz? he's a great hitter, never said he was a scrub, unlike some other fans who feel that they have to tear down any opposing player's skills, I recognize that even though he's in a different uni, Ortiz is an awesome hitter. I just don't think he puts up his numbers without Manny batting behind him. Realistic projection for Ortiz without manny is .290, 30 HR, 100 RBI. Still great numbers, and still someone I would rather the Yankees not pitch to (as well as Manny)

Yeah those 144 RBI only helped Manny. You're building Ortiz up to be some sort of a superman while tearing down others. All i does is set him up for an even bigger fall from grace next year when Manny isn't protecting him anymore. Ortiz had 601 ABs, that doesn't sound like anyone who gets picthed around. You can get out Ortiz with down and away stuff. Manny would hit those suckers out. He's just a better hitter than Ortiz, period.

Personally I think the MVP of the Red Sox (especially during their playoff push) was Manny Ramirez who had an abosultely monster of a second half, overshadowing Ortiz. Not to mention his presence behiond Ortiz got Ortiz better pitches to hit, helping him collect some of those "memorable" hits you guys keep talking about. If ortiz had won the award, the second best player on the Red Sox would have won it as well.

Well I don't know how it will affect it, but I can bet you ALOT more people will take him more seriously the next time he threatens to kill a batter for taking too long in the box.

Sounds about right to me. Ozzie did an amazing job with the Sox. I think the Braves broke some kind of records with all the rookies they had up this year. Cox is an amazing regular season manager.

Even more reason for him to have stayed in the NL I get what you're saying, but do you feel comfortable giving this guy a 5 year deal in light of recent somewhat high profile NL pitchers who went to the AL?
