  1. About sweeps...when a team is in free-fall, you don't know what would've happen.
  2. Oh if we had our Wang, we totally would've swept you guys! Natch...
  3. 26 to 6: You added the "Numbers Don't Lie" part. Hee! Psst - it's the THREAT of trade that apparently jump-starts these players...so I'm all for dangling them as bait if it works. :dunno: Sori would love to come to the Yankees, but now that Cano's developing, he would pretty much have to switch positions. Don't think he's the answer though, and the Rangers are pretty much in the same position we are in; desparately needing pitching to keep up with the Angels and outduel the A's...yeah, right. Poll on best Yankees transaction in recent history - this is exactly ON deadline day.
  4. Yeah, Cano should stick in the number two hole. Where's Tino? Has he dropped off too? Woe is Wo, huh? Don't think the Pavano for Burnett thing is going to happen - they were friends in FL, but the Yankees don't appear interested. They don't appear interested in many things right now - it's very hush-hush until right down to the trade deadline, if anything. Wang...I have a bad feeling. Just in my gut - and I hope I'm wrong about this...but I don't think the official evaluation's in for another two weeks or so. I would rather have him COMPLETELY healthy for next year than risk any further damage. I have SP rotation at: Mussina (he's been really good, comparatively thus far now  ) RJ (uhh...) Leiter (remains to be seen) Pavano (heh?) Brown (bring me a walker - poor guy, well, he's not poor, but he should be making that cash on the DL You're not the only one to have said that about Small (this year's Sturtze) - and that would be a great, great thing. But some other ppl think he's a time-bomb waiting to happen...
  5. Game meant much more to the Cubs though; the Cardinals are running away with their divisions like the Chi Sox are. And other than some health concerns (Rolen, Sanders, Walker), they're going to keep chugging along - no holes! I root for David Eckstein; everyone thought the Cards were downgraded at SS, but the guy tries his hardest and I for one appreciate that. He had two gaming-winning, squeeze-bunts this month; crazy!
  6. *jumps excitedly* Even if we're on different sides when it comes to baseball. Just a couple more months before college football season starts...and hopefully West Coast Offense goes better with Zac Taylor!
  7. DONNIE IS THE MAN! True Yankees help uhh...ok I withhold the "True Yankee" title from Giambi for now.
  8. ESPN is to trade rumors what SI is to hyping athletes' careers. Shh!
  9. I read some story that *coughcough* DJ's "sick" or something? He's been streaky or slumpy, for awhile now...my only request is that this entire team goes through their slumps at the same time - because it's either they hit but can't pitch, or vice-versa, or BP blows it or SOMETHING combusts. All together now! Oakland is moving on up...
  10. I'm getting you Hooked on Phonics sometime. I'm only kidding. MC Hammer: Yeah, I know it's unfortunate with how the game became tainted, but I was just getting at that eventually let bygones be bygones. If anything, WE still have his colossal contract on our hands here!
  11. Hey btw, if I didn't say so before, WELCOME THE BOARD! Bwahaha...I saw this used on a Yankees board as a sig - The Kevin Brown Countdown: 70 Days Until Freedom Crespo: I thought I'd comment once I found the ERAs of Henn and co. Henn - 11.12 ERA May - 16.71 ERA Redding - 54.00 ERA ...Granted you wrote for Henn to be moved to relief, but that's still one rockin' ERA stat. KB doesn't give up the longball, but I guess he finds other ways to run up that scoreboard. Ugh, but I kinda feel bad picking on a guy who is probably in pain just getting out of bed.
  12. No offense - but I think it's sad if you let that bitterness get in the way of enjoying baseball. There are actual *gasp* positive things going on! OKOK, that's it - I am not touching this thread with a ten foot pole.
  13. MC Hammer: I said "Yankee or no Yankee" - in that I didn't mean to insinutate that you guys picked on him strictly because he was a Yankee - but that MY personal stance has nothing to do whether he is a Yankee or not. He's human, he makes mistakes...umm, he was sorry about something? Contrite as can be - as far as press conferences go. Not to lecture, but I'm not going to cast the first stone, seeing as I would want a second chance for my mistakes. And yeah fine, there will probably always be cheaters and guys who skate around the rules - that's a personal decision, and in the end, it's something they're going to have answer to, in some way, shape, or form. But go play Ethics Polics if you want. Why don't you guys just turn on ESPN and watch Cubs-Cards and see two clean guys who represent the league quite well, Lee and Pujols go at it. Baseball needs another story; this triple-crown pursuit by a guy who's body frame looks like a basketball player, certainly is a good one.
  14. LOL, of course, MO'WNED! Yeah, I heard about the dangling Rivera for trade thing, sweet story.
  15. Aww shucks! Heh, I was only kidding - but if you ever DO get this vision - call Steinbrenner up. He has a position for everything, motivational coach (harhar - that's working quite well), so I'm sure this new clarity to the future would work quite well for this club.
  16. Oh yeah - ya kidding - the man has his own strike zip-code! Normally I would give him more credit for just being a great hitter, but with the state of Yankees pitching, that's not saying much about anyone. I remember Flash saying something like "I had my slider working..." - and I just KNEW that it was going to be out of the yard...Vlad will get it ANYWHERE. Still, the general consensus is great pitching beats great hitting; how have the A's totally owned the Angels now that they're pitching staff is in order?
  17. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Just not so lucky when he blew those couple postseason saves. So, goes both ways. Phew, no sweep...cold comfort.
  18. CONGRESS?! Riiiiight, because it's not like they have *other* things to do... Right, Sammy totally didn't quit on the Cubs last year. Are you going to start a "former-athlete-known-as-steroid-user" watch or something? Because until you have the smoking syringe - it's ridiculous and unfair to make these allegations, Yankee or no Yankee. Can't we just move on?
  19. I think you should provide your psychic consulting services to the Yankees front office, oh within the next week or so. Advise Cashman on which NL pitcher is best fit for a transaction. Oakland busts Anaheim inside, and what do the Yankees pitchers do...pitch out. Grrrrrreat news for Guerrero. At least we got one good start out of Mussina and well, the Angels have had our number for some time; realistically didn't expect that to change on this trip. There's not much that can be done except taking it one game at a time...it's not exactly early anymore, but they're not in mathematical jeopardy, so whatever. :dunno:
  20. Ok, good, I'm glad we got that cleared up. And if anything - I mock my team before anyone else does it...just part of the while "trying different approaches" thing - nice, not-so-nice, whatever it takes! Hope everything's going well there!
  21. LOL, I want to go there for school, that's why I said it.
  22. I don't want to overuse emoticons to make it all cheesy and stuff. Could you give me an emoticon to indicate that you're not upset with me? Sorry. Yeah, GO MOOSE! You da man! Go show the rest of the pitching staff how's it done! Finally someone that gets Vlad out! ...Goodbye Anaheim, you have owned us thus far this year, and years past.
  23. No, the Mets also do that, too. And the Angels are currently owning us. Sports would be no fun without that one team to hate on. Oh well. Hmm, on a positive note I love Baltimore the city.
  24. Uhh...I was kidding about the Darth Vader part. And "Pettitte" has two more 't's with that. I highly doubt Mazzone would want to come here. He's got it made in ATL. Everyone is "rumored" with the Yankees because it drives up the salary. But if he does, I'll just rush out and get some motion-sickness tablets. Maybe if Cashman dangles more people out "for trade"...they'll start producing again. Anyone want KB or Wo? We saw what happened when Sheff got mad...makes Cash look like a genius. Where is that motivational coach Steinbrenner hired? Just flash a picture of that bloated checkbook. Just curious...what's are people's definitions of a "True Yankee"?
  25. Damon had a good one this year. LOL - yes, yes he did, and he got caught! Corked bats, pine tar...dirty lil' game we have here. I was just making a general point. Oh you guys, there's no point in trying to convince. Psst...Giambi's coming out with his line of "Giambino Power Bars" - why not test them out himself?
