  1. Look, if Mattingly can bring Giambi back, then Sheffield and A-Rod would have 50 or so HRs by now. April: 3HR 6RBI .395/.373/.224 May: 1HR 7RBI .349/.315/.241 June: 1HR 9RBI .474/.431/.310 July: 14HR 24RBI .524/.974/.355 Find me another player with that kind of spike in their stats from month to month(who wasn't fighting injury) and I'll show you a cheater. Note the surge is not in BA or OBP ... its strickly the power numbers EDIT: For all those interested Giambi will be the first topic after the commercial on ATH
  2. That doesn't explain 14 HRs in a month when you had 5 the rest of the season.
  3. Amen. Unless the testing is 100% out sourced I will never trust it. Every player needs to be tested every month(or however long it takes for steroids to get out of your system)
  4. Can you prove that? If so
  5. I definatly believed Raffy 100% when I saw his testimony. He was the only one I believe didn't use. I feel like such a sucker. I don't just think Raffy ruined it for himself but I think he may have also ruined it for Mack, and Sosa, and maybe even Pudge. The voters for the HOF have to be connecting the dots by now.
  6. Theo brought Boston a World Series. And we've got a chance to win another one this year. There is no question that Theo will be brought back no matter the cost. I actually think he'll take less money to stay. Exactly. Not only did you find the talent, but you groomed the talent for years. When several prospects are big league ready around the same time it is really proof of a great farm system. I mean look at the Braves. Look how many players they've brought up this year, and look how much success every single one of them has had.
  7. If you can get me close enought to either I will
  8. Not anymore ... 2HR and 9RBI in his last 5 games. Whens the last time Millar hit even 1 HR?
  9. Canseco must be on top of the world right now. Raffy might as well just retire now because none of the numbers he's racked up during his career mean s*** now, and neither will any he collects when he comes back. I don't see why he would come back now, because theres no way the Orioles are getting to the playoffs now, and he's definatly not going to the HOF. Bye bye Raffy ... its been real. CAN WE PLEASE TEST GIAMBI ... PLEASE!
  10. Kapler, Damon, and Rents being up before Manny and Papi just isn't fair. That is if Kapler stays in the 9 hold.
  11. I'm not sure if this has been posted here yet but I think that it goes well with the pavano comments from the other day. We all know Groom was traded but here are his comments. If this is posted somewhere else already feel free to delete this. As they said on SOSH, where I got this story, this isn't the first time we've heard about Joe playing favorites.
  12. Edgar really started turning it on when we had that string of what 5 straight games against lefties? He feasts on lefties and is average against righties. Also he's clutch as hell in the playoffs. So now more than half of our lineup is clutch in the playoffs. Oh I can't wait
  13. Thats a good point. How much can you really work out during a 162 game season where you're playing almost every day. I seriously doubt he wakes up and goes directly to the gym ... then to the game ... then back to the gym. And even if he did that for 4 months theres no way he would have put this much size back on and gain this much strength. If he worked out to the point where he gained his size back then he would be exhausted by now and would be slumping again because of it. Not the mention the "countless hours" he spent with Mattingly in the cage. Theres just not enough time in the day for one guy to do everything he has to get himself back in shape. I definatly think MLB is trying to pull the wool over our eyes here.
  14. Don't come to me with your problems. Welcome aboard.
  15. Oh I know there are a few of us in RSN that will actually give a player a chance before we crucify him. I was just talking to those that had bashed Edgah.
  16. Yeah, this is how you build a team that is successfull forever. You spend the money to keep a competitive team on the field while you build up your farm system, and then (get this george) you actually bring the minor leaguers up instead of trading them away for 30 somethings with huge contracts. I'm very excited about how Theo is doing things because I know we'll have a competitive team now and in the future. Can't wait to see some of these guys at the ML level.
  17. Think about it this way. If Mattingly is so good then why can't Womack hit? Why is Posada only hitting .250? How come Tino is only hitting .222? If Mattingly is good enough to turn around the biggest drop off in baseball history then why isn't everyone on the team hitting .300? if Mattingly is that good of a hitting coach then he should be able to take any player and make him a star ... why isn't that happening?
  18. I dont understand why everyone is so down on Cruz. You guys just love jumping on people (see Edgar Renteria). Atleast give the guy a chance to play his first game before we give up on him. Look at his last few seasons ... not just this one. I think he's going to be a hell of a pickup once he gets comfortable in Boston. I really think he'll prove himself worthy of being a Red Sox before too long.
  19. Hopefully Manny is done asking for a trade every year, and hopefully he'll be with the Red Sox until he retires. He did seem like that was what he wanted to do during the post game interview yesturday, but with Manny I guess you never know. Every day Manny is still with the Red Sox is a good day.
  20. I really want Tony G to be the starting 2B going into the playoffs, but there is an unwritten rule which may prevent him from starting when bellhorn gets back. You're not supposed to lose your job because of injury, no matter how well your replacement does. So I assume Tito is going to give Bellhorn every chance to keep the job.
  21. Who in their right might would want to be Bob Ryan ... have you seen the guy ...
  22. Depending on how far the Marlins go in the playoffs I think theres somewhat of a chance that they will resign him. I know they have Beckett and Willis but I think keeping all 3 through their prime (much like the Braves did with Maddux, Glavin, Smoltz) should allow them to go to the playoffs every year. I really couldn't imagine letting a pitcher like AJ walk away for nothing. I'm sure the marlins will atleast offer him and deal.
  23. I believe we have a very cheap option on him for next year. EDIT: Actually according to Hardball Dollars we have no option for him next year. Although I'm not sure how reliable the site is.
  24. I still stand by what I said before. MLB either isn't testing the star players, or they're not suspending them for their results. If Jason Giambi isn't taking steroids then I'm a fat black woman.
  25. I don't think theres any question that we send him back down. The question is, just when we chose to do so. I think you could give the kid another start without really disrupting the order of the rotation. Well, I'd atleast like to see him make one more start. But I'd assume just like Abe last year that this is a one and done type deal for him, and I expect him to be moved back down to AAA before the end of the week. I wouldn't go promising him a spot in the rotation next year because a lot can happen before next season.
