  1. FSL? Frontier League?
  2. I've really liked Boomah so far. He's really doing a great job. I was a little skeptical of picking up a pitcher as old and out of shape as he is ... not to mention a former Yankee, but he's done a bang up job. If he decides to play again next year I wouldn't mind having him on the staff again.
  3. Really you don't think its addicting? You don't think that needing something to perform your job is addicting? You don't think you become addicted to being better at your job? I didn't say it was physically addicting. I just said addicting. Drugs can be mentally addicting as well, like weed and alcohol.
  4. Looking at his stats Roberto has never gotten it done at the big league level so I'm less than excited about this call up. I guess anything is better than Millar starting every night but I don't really see how Roberto is going to help the team all that much.
  5. The Yankees better give Matsui what he wants our their OF consists of an aging Gary Sheffield and thats it. I think that the Yankees making a run at Damon will either be the best thing for the Sox or the worst, depends how you look at it. If you want the Sox to hold on to Johnny then its likely that the Yankees making a bid on him will make the Sox do whatever they can to keep Johnny from going there. However, I think that there are a few other options out there at CF and Theo might decided to go a different direction if Johnnys asking price is too high. I think Johnny may end up having an asking price that only the Yankees are willing to pay. It's going to come down to Johnnys character. Money, or the team you say you love. If Johnny thinks he's getting a 6 year contract he's out of his mind. The only team in the league that would be dumb enough to give him a 6 year contract would be the Yankees, and that is the length he is looking for.
  6. Welcome. The more Red Sox fans here the better. You know for that day our army rises up and takes over NYC and all.
  7. Well guys he said he has 2 of them, so selling one would make sense. Because of the type of item this is it may take some time to get bids on it. Just leave it up as long as possible and keep your fingers crossed.
  8. Exactly. Do alcoholics quit drinking after their first black out? Do crack heads stop smoking crack when they're caught, or get sick? Do any drug addicts stop what they're doing? No. Then why would Giambi. Remember weither they tested for them or not steroids have been illegal in this country for a long time now. It's a drug just like crack, coke, heroine ... whatever. Once a drug addict ... always a drug addict.
  9. I can't believe you people are actually gonna bash Canseco. Sure what he did was wrong in the way that ratting on one of your friends is wrong, but come on. Would you rather have Canseco on talk shows, or steroids in baseball? I love what he did for the game. He may have made it look very bad for a few months, but as soon as the players got back on the field everything changed. Ratings are up around the league, and now we know we're working towards a clean game. Canseco's book is the reason that Barry Bonds is sitting at home right now. Remember that all you double B haters(myself included). If Canseco's book never would have come out then Bonds would have passed Ruth and would be making his way towards Aaron right now. And the game would still be tainted. I'm happy Canseco opened our, and MLB's eyes. I may have bashed him a little when he first put his book out but I certainly will not now. Canseco may have cheated the game just like Bonds, Giambi, Sosa, Mack, Raffy, and everyone else, but atleast he's helping fix it now.
  10. Yeah I think Manny just had a head ache and a few bumps and bruises. They might keep him out tonight just to be safe.
  11. Jermey played a few games here are really wasn't a Red Sox. Plus he never helped us win an ALCS, or hit 14 HRs in a month for us. Completely different story. We wouldn't talk about Jeremy Giambi under any curcumstances. The guys not even in the league anymore.
  12. I just put the game on. How bad was the collision and are the two of them OK?
  13. That will be the pitching staff until Wright goes back down, and the Yankees realize they made a big mistake with RJ. I think Pavano, Wright, and RJ were all busts, and now you're stuck with all of their big contracts. I'm not so sure Randy is even going to pitch next year. He took a huge step back, and thats even with changing leagues, which should have helped a lot. I think you're going to be 2 pitchers short again next year, and in the same position.
  14. Barry will not be back. Like I said before when he told Gomez he was done he was. He can no longer perform at a high level without the use of steroids, and cannot recover from the knee injuries he has. Barry's knees will never recovery, because you can not eliminate arthritis. Mark my words, he will never play another game in this league again.
  15. Schmidt is signed through next year.
  16. Aside from Gay Rod I just made up all the other names while I was typing that. I guess if you really want I could make up a full list of Yankee bashing nicknames for everyone on the team.
  17. I wouldn't want Pavano on my staff if he didn't want to be with the team. I can't imagine Joe wanting him back in the rotation after he says he regrets signing there. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do though.
  18. Well I was listening to ESPN Radio the other day and the best reason given for Bonds making his annoncement so close to Raffy getting caught is because he wanted to take some heat off Raffy, because they're friends. Isn't it funny that Bonds is friends with Raffy, and they both use roids. Don't you think Barry would know about Raffy using roids if they were friends, and try to stop him? Unless, of course he was using them ... case closed on Barry.
  19. I think it's more like mussina, pray for rain and Wang to come back.
  20. No hopefully they do not ignore this rule. The rule is completely based on respecting your players. If the Sox chose to not use mark, and not even give him a single start for the rest of the season then it shows a serious lack of respect by Tito for the players. Respect is a big part of sports and when a team feels that one player has been disrespected by a coach, or ownership, they tend to feel disrespected themselves.
  21. Jeter is first. Not because I think he's any good, or the best Yankee, but because the media has been jamming him down everyones throat for the last how many years.
  22. I wouldn't be so quick to predict wins over the Royals if I'm a Yankee fan. Hopefully you were joking with your 95 wins comment. You have 58 games left to win 39. I strongly doubt you're going 39-19 with no pitching. So hopefully that was a joke.
  23. Actually he probably will. I've said it, and I believe someone else did too ... there is an unwritten rule in sports that you cannot lose your job to injury. Bellhorn will be given a chance when he comes back, because thats the way things are done. Like it or not.
  24. Actually in the late innings A-rod is better than Sheffield. He and Matsui are pretty close. Jeter is the worst ... so much for being Mr. Clutch eh? 25. You're arguement about Ortiz isn't a bad one, but its still no where close to what Giambi has done. I don't know how many times its been said in this thread, maybe 30, but you can ask any player thats every played in MLB ... you cannot increase your power during a season. Day 1 of the season is the healthiest, strongest, and most in shape you will be for the entire season. Every day past the first day of the season it's down hill. If Giambi would have taken a few weeks off to work out and try to get his swing back then I would be fine with your arugment. But he didn't. You're honestly going to tell me that Giambi had enough time to gain this much strength in a few days WHILE playing the season. Just doesn't happen. Saying that he is patient has nothing to do with his HR total. If you look at his BA and OBP the month before his power surge he looks like a very patient hitter, and a good singles hitter. This is really something thats not worth arguing about as much as we are, because even if Giambi hits 14 HRs next month the Yankees aren't going to the playoffs.
