I think the same, but it's going to be impossible to find a new owner for this team. About half of the, formally, very strong baseball fan base here in Pittsburgh is dead, and the other half isn't very far off. Anyone from Pittsburgh around my age has now see 2 Stanley Cups, and a Super Bowl win, and 13 consecutive under .500 seasons from the Pirates. Remembering the Pirates greatness is limited to people who are over 50 at this point. The youth of Pittsburgh has absolutely no reason to care at all about the Pirates. It's gonna be damn hard to find an owner for a team that has no fan base left. Especially knowing that you won't be able to move the team, because not only are they an original franchise, but we have a new park. Sooner or later MLB will own the Pirates.

Gotcha. Ben did have arthroscopic surgery, and the recovery time is a lot faster. I don't think he'll miss more than 1 game. There was a linemen from purdue that had the same surgery this year and missed less than 2 weeks.

The whole magic number thing is pretty silly. We traded 1 of our 2 consistent pitchers, and were out of it before that. No need to countdown.

Hines Ward would play with 1 leg. He'll be on the field no matter what opening day, but I don't love our chances with Batch. He played half the season and the entire playoffs with the same injury he has now, last year.

No it's not. He knows how to dump big contracts, and that's what our owners want to do. The Pirates majority owner has a history of buying businesses sucking them dry for all their worth and then folding them. He is making money on this team every year simply because of PNC Park. He will keep the team until he can no longer make money and then attempt to sell them off. But by that time the Pirates should be arriving at about 30 consecutive losing seasons, and no one will be there to buy the team. The current Pirates ownership will result in either MLB taking over the Pirates the same way they had to with the Expos, or the team will be folded. I personally wish the team would have gotten moved instead of getting a new park, and I wouldn't be against them folding tomorrow. As much as I love baseball the Pirates make Pittsburgh a joke for the entire country. With the Pirates and Penguins the Steelers have to do a lot to keep this city from becoming a complete laughing stock.

Well I don't think there's any way we're going to be able to trade him. Personally I'd rather let anyone else start the season in the rotation than let Clement anywhere near the dugout.
