  1. No sadly in this day and age people who think like you are one of the reasons we have such a high crime rate. They put all their eggs in one basket, and when they don't make it, for whatever reason, they turn to crime, because they never got an education. Hello, most recent example, Maurice Clarrett. He has drive, but not work ethic. He is driven to make a life out of football. Vince Young in the one in a million that didn't need school. The problem is that too many kids that don't have enough talent and take after people who do. Never met a dillusional person? But it does when you don't make it, and you end up with no education, and have to either work at Burger King or become a criminal. Don't forget, even if you have the skill, all it takes is 1 hit to end an NFL dream.
  2. You can't be seabeachfred ... he used to be intelligent. Even if we made the best offer to Zito he'd have to be a complete moron to sign here. He would get exposed at Fenway. I dislike Jason Schmidt so I won't comment on him.
  3. The fact that he can't made HS grades shows that he has no work ethic. People who have a great work ethic aren't able to just turn it on for football and not turn it on elsewhere. The work he's put in is based on one thing. The hope one day he'll be rich because of football. I hope he doesn't come to Pitt ... talented as hell or not.
  4. Hey I'm not saying he won't be a star. I'm just saying for every 1 kid like this that makes it there are 100 that don't. Plus he's coming up to the biggest time in his life for change. Who knows if he'll still have that kinda work ethic when he's 20.
  5. I agree, but I don't see them being able to rebuild fast enough for it to be worth it. I would definatly keep him around if I thought I could turn the team around in a year or two, but I think it'll take a lot longer.
  6. Well you don't rebuild teams that have this much talent. So I guess "re-tool". We need an established #3 pitcher to fill out our rotation, a few bullpen arms, and someone who can leadoff.
  7. Maybe that's why they will trade him. Why give him a huge contract if you have a long rebuilding process ahead of you?
  8. If that is was the case then it's about damn time. The Pirates have been getting screwed out of players(mostly by themselves) for a decade +
  9. That was a mistake made by me. We were talking about, if they both get cut ...
  10. Impressive, but it's only HS. In my days watching HS football I've seen tons of kids that can do what he can. Most of which end up being nothing. The High School I went to freshman year Central Catholic(currently ranked 8th in the country) had 2 of the best athlete's I've ever seen at RB ... both of them did things like those shown in that video every week ... and neither ended up being anything. While it's cool to see these kids in High School 90% of them wont make it.
  11. The people that run BP are so smart that they know what's better for baseball than baseball itself does. I'm really not in the mood to argue this again.
  12. I ment sign not trade sorry. Just trust me if the Steelers cut Duce no one will sign him unless they're extremely desperate. He makes too much money, and he's never healthy. Getting a RB from Denver is a horrible idea. Their RBs are successful because of their zone blocking scheme. Clinton Portis has a lot of talent, but a lot of the RBs that came though Denver wouldn't be 2nd stringers on other teams.
  13. No team would have wanted to pay for Abreu, but the Yankees. Do you want to trade him there? Or do you expect us to trade him and still pay the vast majority of his money? You constantly talk about how we don't have enough pitching, but claim that Bobby Abreu would win us this division. Can you try getting through a whole day without contradicting yourself 10 times?
  14. Wouldn't resigning Pedro, and Johnny be a bit extreme? He can't stop crying about us not doing that.
  15. Well it wouldn't make any sense. DD is 10 times the RB Duce is. Why trade a very good young RB who's injury prone, for an old fat RB who's injury prone?
  16. If you've seen my posts on this board you know I'm a fan of stats, but that site goes waaaaaay overboard. I don't need 10,000 different stats to tell me how good a pitcher or hitter is. Because of BP you can now find a stats to back just about every arguement.
  17. I don't think the Texans are that dumb. They are letting DD go, cause he can't stay healthy. Duce has not being healthy copyrighted.
  18. Are you not the one that wanted to get Abreu and pay his giant salary? Even after complain about Hinske by saying "We need pitching not hitting". I never said we shouldn't sign FAs or make trades, but any time there's a problem you immediately say that we didn't spend enough money, or we didn't trade enough prospects ... even if the problem was caused by someone getting hurt (see: our pitching staff). This FO knows what it's doing, remember it was the first one here in 86 years that was able to get us to the WS.
  19. What board are you looking at. I can count the amount of people on this board that haven't given up on less than 1 hand.
  20. Maybe BaseballProspectus could come up a few thousand more stats.
  21. No that's what teams with bad management do to fill gaps. Teams that actually has a FO that knows what it's doing is able to fill those holes with it's top prospects. Front Office's that don't know what they're doing are the ones that have to go out and buy superstars every year. No that is not my solution to the rotation, but it's definatly not trading one of the 3 pitchers we had, and a reliever for Bobby Abreu.
  22. Anytime we have a problem of any kind with this team you immediately start talking about how we should trade our prospects, and spend more money.
  23. How was my response a dodge? Going to the World Series doesn't mean a god damn thing. Would everyone here have been happy with the 04 season if we lost in the World Series? Would anyone have considered it a success? "Wow I'm happy I got that job interview ... I didn't get the job ... but man am I happy I was there"
  24. How sad is it that the 2 of us are agreeing this much? Goes to show how many fake fans there are on this board.
  25. Please don't question me. You said Lester throws sidearm.
