If you have a leadoff hitter that strikes out 100 times a year and only walks 50 times you're not going to the playoffs. Especially with our pitching. And the fact that we won't have a closer. We can't afford to have a leadoff hitter that piss poor.

Exactly. If we had no other needs, then I wouldn't be against possibly getting Drew, but we have holes to fill before we can improve on positions we already have filled.

Does everyone forget that we got Wily Mo to play RF? We don't need either of them, and getting Drew is a clear slap in the face to Pena ... one I'm sure he wouldn't forget when he contract is up. The only way Pena will ever improve is if he's in the lineup every day, and if he's not starting in RF this year ... he will only be here as long as his current contract. A lot of you guys complained when we traded Arroyo for Pena ... do you want that trade to go down as a complete waste?

Someone needs to tell the Sabres to pick some colors and make an attempt to stick to them. I'd hate to be one of their fans. I agree with everything about Zito, but I'm not wild about going after Schmidt either. None of the big name FA pitchers really stand out for me as the right fit.

Didn't say I was comfortable with it. I said I think that's what the plans are. Please discuss it, but jesus christ we've been talking about this since before the god damn season. How much more can you discuss one trade? Being in the AL means that instead of getting to face an automatic out every time around the order(pitcher) ... you're facing the best hitter on the team(DH). If you don't see a huge difference in that alone then I'm not sure what you're look at.
