They definatly need to change the name of the award. 9 times out of 10 the real MVP doesn't win the award becasue it goes to the best player. Arod has the better numbers in the categories the writers look at(because they're too lazy to look at the rest) and he should be the player of the year, but the MOST VALUABLE player this season is most definatly Ortiz. I'm not saying that Ortiz should have won, but the name of the award definatly needs to be changed if they're going to continue to skip over the real MVP to give it to the guy with the best stats.

I think if the price and years drop to 4/44 the Sox will resign him. As it stands right now I can't see anyway that Johnny will be back unless he comes WAY down on the money and the years.

Do you expect Shop to be happy sitting around for another 4 years? I'm sure he doesn't want to watch his prime pass him by while he's sitting on the bench. He's 25 years old, and I doubt he's going to want to wait till he's 30 to start in the bigs. I'm not saying that he'll go and bitch to the front office, but I think they realize he wont be a very happy camper, and will trade him.

I'm sorry but lifetime for the first offense is not too tough. If your job requires random drug tests and you test positive for any drug you're fired on the spot, basically equivalent to a lifetime ban from that workplace. Why should MLBP be allowed to cheat the game twice before they're kicked out? Doesn't make any logical sense that just becasue you're a baseball player you have more rights than everyone else in the country.

So cheating the game and everyone around you who doesn't use steroids, is less of a "baseball crime" than placing bets on games? Steroid users are not only cheating non users out of games, and championships, but they're cheating them out of money. Pete Rose never cheated anyone out of anything, and the only thing he's guilty of is better on the wrong games. He never cost a team a game because of his gambling, never cost anyone a championship, never cost anyone a pay day. Steroid use is so much more serious than gambling. Why do you think a cheater deserves a second chance?

I wasn't saying you were "woe is me"ing it. Just didn't want anyone else to start. You guys have sure had your fair share of injuries this year, but considering how good you've done in the last few years I have exactly 0 pitty for you. You guys will get to the playoffs like you said, and once there, anything can happen.

I dont think this is strict enough. First offense should be a lifetime ban, no question. If Pete Rose got life the first time he was caught gambling than the same rules should apply for steroid users ... actually more strict rules should apply. I can live with 50 games ... but it still doesn't make me happy. I actually don't think I would be happy unless congress took over. MLB has too much behind the scenes bs, and politics going on to run the testing fairly.

First of all BULL f***ING s*** he didn't know. How come no one(even yankee fans) believes that Palmiero unintentionally used steroids, but you're able to believe that Sheffield used them unintenionally? When someone tells you to do something you just do it? You don't question it at all? You wouldn't even ask what was in it? Why it worked so well? again bs.

No, because those are LEGAL steroids. The steroids Sheff used were illegal. That's why there was a case brought against BALCO, the company he got them from. You used legal steroids perscribed by a doctor, Sheffield used ILLEGAL steroids not perscribed by a doctor.

You're right if Tek was a real man he would have put him in a wrestling move like Arod. Sorry we don't all fight like they do in WWE. I think that fight went to show that Arod has never been in a fight in his life, and he is truly the punk bitch that we've said he was for a while now.

Right you have to go into our all time roster to find someone you can bring into question. Let's see about your roster last season. Giambi, Sheffield, and Lawton. Wow thats 3 in one season. Also looking at the 3 we know for sure all of them were using steroids before they arrived in NY ... and I think steiny knew about it.
