    I agree. If our pitching can be consistant, Josh I'm looking at you, then I think we just need 1 more starter.

    Nice to see a thread about this years defense is a place to bash Edgar Renteria again. That never gets old right? As far as our defense goes I can't say I'm surprised at all. We have a potential gold glover from corner to corner, and they're all playing to their potential. Defense and pitching wins championships, and we've got half of the equation perfected. There is definatly something special about watching an infield of defensive superstars.

    I totally agree about Jenks. If it wasn't for Ozzie the guy with the 2nd most Saves in the AL(22) definatly wouldn't be on the team .................................................

    I understand that this is all hypothetical, but you do understand that both Cabrera and Marte play the OF as well, right? It's not like the Marlins wouldn't take one of the top prospects in baseball just because he can't play his first position.

    I guess I could understand that he had similar numbers in 2005, but teams look at more than just 1 year when deciding on a player. I think a players career line is taken into account a lot more than what a player did for 1 season. So his overall point, Tony G and Mark getting the same return, is still not true. Would you pay more for a guy who's a career .300 hitter, or a career .267 hitter who hit .300 last year?

    ORS I usually agree, or at least respect your opinions, but to say that Tony G and Mark are the same player is just silly. I was one of the biggest Tony G supporters on this board, and I don't think we would have even been a playoff team without him last year, but even I refuse to make that claim. I'm not sure exactly what about their numbers leads you to believe they're the same player, give or take a little pop. Career numbers BA Loretta - .302 Tony G - .267 OBP Loretta - .365 Tony G - .335 SLG Loretta - .407 Tony G - .395 Loretta has made 78 errors in 1321 innings where as Tony G has made 73 in 742 innnings. So I'm not sure which way you analyzed this, but I can't seem to see how these two are the same player in any way.

    Yes but see it's not just his opinion. He's making an opinion for all of us ... all of RSN. He's saying the fans in Fenway will boo Petey. He's not saying that he is going to boo Petey ... he's saying that RSN is. If he wants to say "I will be booing Pedro" I'm fine with that. But to make a blanket statement about a huge group of people ... just doesn't make sense. Has he conducted a poll somewhere? Ask a random thousand people in Boston? How exactly did he arrive at the conclusion that RSN will boo Petey? That's right he did nothing. No research. Like most of what comes out of Peter Gammons mouth ... this came out of his ass first.

    Kapler vs. Willie Mo really doesn't make any sense as they both bring compeletly different things to the team, and can help more together than they could seperately. Willie Mo's use will be spelling whichever OF needs the day off, and pinch hitting. Kapler will be a defensive replacement and a pinch runner. It doesn't make sense to pick one or the other, because you need them both. Willie Harris on the other hand is a complete waste of a uniform.

    Even if it was the Post that took his quote out of context it's not like he hasn't made a million moronic comments in the past. I mean just look later in the article where he calls RSN unforgiving. Also I'll believe the Post before I believe someone who posts on a message board.

Second ... who the f*** is Peter Gammons to speak for RSN? Gammons has become a cronic liar over the past few years ... most notably the "There's a 99% tear in Pedro's arm". I wish ESPN had some dignity and didn't just hire people for their names. I just wish there was a way to annonce to the sports world that that old Bob Barker looking mother f***er does not speak for RSN. If Gammons thinks RSN is going to boo Petey then he is clearly not the fan he claims to be. Boston fans are unforgiving? Maybe back when you were growing up Grandpa Gammons, but last I checked we not only forgave, but welcomed Wakefield back with open arms after he let up the ALCS winning HR to AFB. Gammons please stop talking ... everytime you open you're mouth you make RSN look bad. You're a worse face for RSN than BDD.

    Too bad for Ballgame. He'll always be one of my favorite players. Hopefully he finds a way to get back from this.

    So all he'd have to do is arrive in the bigs and hit .306? Yeah that's easy .... Do you understand how hard it is to come up to the bigs and succeed at all? And you're saying "he'd just have to match the average"? Hitting .306 is not exactly easy ... especially for a 23 year old who has never seen big league pitching before. And ESPECIALLY considering he's not even hitting .290 in AAA. Why is money an issue at all? Why do we need to save some money at 2B? Are we suddenly a small market team? In the last 2 years we let 2 of our higher priced players walk away in Damon and Pedro ... I can't believe we'd have a need to save any more money. If you guys honestly believe that Dustin can come in now and replace Loretta's numbers and defense right away ... I'd like to meet you so I can laugh in your face.

    What would be the sense in not playing a DH? We have the best DH ... why would we not use him?

    Also Youk is hitting 8th so AGon won't leave the bases loaded like he does on a nightly basis. Youk will be able to clear them before AGon can end the inning.

    I don't know that I like Lester being called up now. I think Pauley really established himself last time out, and deserves another start before we go to Lester. On top of that I am very worried about ruining Lester by calling him up a year earlier than expected.

    Wow you're made at the guy for not pouting after the game? The key to sports is never allowing yourself to get too high or too low. It's clear that Beckett wasn't happy with his performance but he didn't cry about it, or make excuses, he just said he'll be better next time. What more do you want from him? Would you like him to change his windup for road games ... or what?
