Who's hitting #2 if we trade Loretta? And then who is taking that spot in the lineup? Yes the addition to the rotation will definatly help, but if you don't think shaking the entire lineup up, and then putting a new player in our infield is going to mess with chemistry then I must be the crazy one. I would rather have the best defense in baseball, and a very good #2 hitter, than another pticher, a worse defense, and no #2 hitter. Yes we do have a hole at the #5 spot in our rotation, but filling a hole by creating another one doesn't help the team.
The way I see it we've already made it almost 2/3rds of the way through the season having to forefit every 5th day and yet we're still in 1st place.
Lets, just pretend that we trade Loretta and still make the playoffs. What is going to help us win the World Series again ... a veteran 2B with a good bat, or a 5th starter who will never touch a baseball in the playoffs?
