  1. i wish Swihart would show us that he has the talent to match his projections. He is athletic enough, show them he can hit and they will find a position for him. LF, 3B, 2B, 1B, C...........that doesnt matter, prove to them you can hit as much as your talent/projections say you can. Just hit, they will find a position for you.
  2. For a soft throwing knuckleballer, the dude has a laundry list of issues. Woman batterer, cheater......enough is enough. He was a good story while it lasted.
  3. This contract has so many different variables to it. He could suck, and the PHI fans will eat him alive. He could succeed, but the PHI fans will expect more and eat him alive. He could play great, and the PHI fans will eat him alive. He will never be worth the contract, they rarely are. The incredible thing is, if he decides to mail it in at age 30/31, they are still on the hook for 7/8 years!!!!!! Imagine that, he is already paid, what does he care if they arent winning? The Manny Ramirez contract and the A-Rod contracts were huge, long term deals at their time. Both players were considered baggage at the end of their deals......Harper could be baggage for almost the entire length of those deals by the time he gets halfway through. Crazy to think about.
  4. He wont. There have been many opportunities to come up with a long term resolution. He is interested in getting paid.
  5. Didn't think it was going to be JD, but I clicked anyways haha.
  6. FWIW, I do agree that a player sometimes has immeasurables. As much as baseball geeks want to put a number to everything, you can't. I think he is probably the best defensive CF in the game. I dont care what his defensive WAR is, or his UZR is. You really can't measure an OF'ers arm. Manny Ramirez lead baseball in OF assists twice, or was close to it twice. Was that because he had a great arm, or because opponents knew he was defensively challenged? There are as many youtube clips of Vlad Guerrero airmailing a throw into the stands as there are of him nailing a guy at 3B. I'd rather have the guy that makes all the throws he is supposed to. I will get killed for it, but I still use fielding percentage as a measure of Outfield Defense. You always have the argument of a guy getting to a ball that others shouldn't have......but is the error worth it when you can field it on a hop, make a good throw and hold a guy to a long single, or a double? People used to make that argument for Nomar, theyd say he would commit errors because he got to balls others didn't. What happened when Nomar no longer got to those balls? He became a defensive liability.
  7. He is serviceable. I give you credit, you support your guy. I do not dislike Bradley, I just don't want to hear how great he is. On a good offensive team, he hits 9th. Maybe 8th. On our team, he hits 6th...a good indication that your (our) team is weak offensively.
  8. This post is disgusting, and screw you. I hate it, and I hate you......because its true. What a disaster.
  9. Yes he is. However, Ill always be grateful that Cherrington was able to unload Beckett, Gonzalez and Crawford. Then he screwed us with Ramirez, Sandoval and Castillo. If you don't know who he is, hes the guy making 10+ Million a year in AAA, and is not even on the 40 man roster.
  10. LOL, when I am there to say "told you so" after he blows out his arm and cant hit MLB pitching, I wonder if I will be called racist? HAHAHAHA
  11. Yes. If he were a defensive wizard, why was he terrified to catch Wakefield? Answer: He was a little selfish. He knew his PB total would take a hit and he would be exposed, and slide stepping pitchers or not.....he could never throw. How many other catchers did you hear, "Oh, well his pitchers slide step, thats why he cant throw anyone out. Oh, well Lester takes too long to deliver the ball, thats why he cant throw anyone out" Remember when we had to have a police escort from the airport for Doug friggin Mirabelli. All because Varitek couldn't catch a knuckleball. What a joke. Great catchers don't have excuses built in. Hell, even good catchers don't have excuses built in. Tek was a walking excuse. Everything about his game was, "well, the numbers are hard to measure because of A, or because of B or because of C", speaking of C.......thats one thing that is definitely not overrated, the fact that he was a dirt dog and wore a C on his jersey.....what a tool.
  12. Except then I posted the articles, and the FACTS.
  13. So only now, you admit that you didn't first post stats that were honest, only ones to fit your argument. Then you expand your argument to include the best season of his career (2015-2017), and to be honest, 2015 looks like a fluke. Surprised you didn't include his 2014 season. You know, the one where he hit .198 with 1 HR and had an OPS of .531 in 127 games? You are ridiculous. You LITERALLY cherry pick stats to make him somehow appear acceptable. Its beyond ridiculous, the fact that you have to try that hard to cherry pick and make him appear AVERAGE, should be an indication that he isn't that good. I am amazed each and every time you continue to post and manipulate the numbers, moonslav....honest question......are you Jackie Bradley Jr?
  14. Actually, I cant stand him. If youd like, you can search the forum for where I actually suggested they just cut him. http://www.nbcsports.com/boston/boston-red-sox/charades-over-hanley-ramirez-doesnt-want-play-1b-and-thats-ok ^ In this article. Hanley does not want to play 1B. http://www.nbcsports.com/boston/boston-red-sox/hanley-ramirez-playing-first-base-boston-red-sox-any-time ^ In this article, Hanley says that he "will do anything to help the team win" and that his shoulder is "nothing to worry about". Hanley then missed 3 games. http://www.providencejournal.com/sports/20170524/red-sox-not-planning-on-hanley-ramirez-being-able-to-play-first-base-in-2017 ^ In this article, DD says that Hanleys inability to play 1B has "affected the club's roster a lot". Anything for the team Hanley right? Further, DD assumed that Hanley was fine because he never said anything about his shoulder during the offseason, yet Hanley entered the season assuming he was going to DH......THENNNNNN his shoulder started to hurt. A lot of players surgeries in the offseason. Logan Mankins at 330 LBS played half a season on a torn acl. But yeah, I am sure that minor arthroscopic surgery he had was dehabiliting to the point that he couldn't stand on 1B and catch. God forbid that he has to attempt one of the two 3-6-3 double play attempts a 1B'man makes a year.
  15. Yes, and potentially yes. But to be fair, it could be a number of reasons. Underperforming player gets benched, injuries, platoons.....either way, there were only 18 qualified CF's last year. Michigan adam, to be qualified, you need to reach a certain number of plate appearances, not at bats.
  16. Its been this way for a while. Theo was extremely good at bluffing. He would hype someone to the moon, then use them to acquire an asset. The problem lately, is that we hype a lot of players up....but other teams smell the ******** and we get stuck with that overhyped player either hoping they will produce, or asking questions about why they didn't.
  17. My problem with him is that he is extremely overvalued. People want to s*** all over Price for what he did to Eckersley. Little known to a lot of RedSox fans, JBJ was the original ******* that had a problem with Eckersley for calling it as it was.
  18. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=cf&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2017&month=0&season1=2017&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=21,d You really like to cherry pick stats bro. Based on MLB CF's who are QUALIFIED to be ranked.... Bradley is 15 out of 18 Offensively Bradley is 6 out of 18 Defensively Combined, he is 12 out of 18 Yeah, he is 15th....out of 18!!!! What a PRIZE. We should be so lucky. ...that was all for WAR, and if the stat you were using OPS, well...he was also 15 out of 18 there as well.
  19. That isnt saying much. They were one of the weakest offensive teams in the last 30 years.
  20. Too good? Hanley as in Hanley Ramirez? Oh, you mean like when he missed games on May 11th, 12th and 13th after being asked to play 1B for the first time last year? Oh, you mean like when he missed games on June 15th, 16th and 17th after being asked to play 1B for the second time last year? Oh, you mean like when he missed games on August 5th, 6th, and the 8th after being asked to play 1B? Oh, you mean like when he missed games on August 14th after being asked to play 1B? Yeah, your right. It never happened.
  21. No. Again, IMO the only people that think Bradley has any value.....are RedSox fans. I haven't heard a single rumor related to a single team actually wanting him. There was a report on DEC.11th that he was made available to at least 6 teams. A couple days later DD states the report was false. My take, he was made available and nobody gave a s***. To avoid hurting his potential future trade value, declared the report false.
  22. Hanley can't play 1B, and doesn't want to play 1B. Every time they ask him to, he misses the next 2 games....its not really worth the platoon if hes unavailable to face lefties because he was asked to play 1B, and this also means that Mooreland will be getting 60%, or more of the ABs.
  23. Well, I knew youd say the right thing. And you know it is, in comparison anyway. Maybe for the better though......seabeach and all those guys were brutal.
  24. I sense a lot of negativity in your posts towards me. If you prefer I left, I would.
  25. HAHA, 2 separate replies to the same post! Im serious! He is going to go on the phantom DL for 162 games at 20+ Million?? .....and, I love the kid...but if he is given the opportunity to play at 3B everyday, he will make 20 errors. He made 14 in 56 games this year. We can make a PM private wager if you like.
