  1. See, this is what I am talking about you dickhead. Last time I came back, those assclowns went after me. How about having my back this time since I have been here since 2005? MVP, you need to sell this place to me, to have people as great as I am.....post here.
  2. Not disagreeing, but, is there a metric that shows the value of making a pitcher throw 20-30% (20+ pitches) of his pitches to a leadoff hitter that doesn't get on base? There are a number of different ways to look at it. What is worth more? Getting on base and being stranded, or making a pitcher throw pitches.....and getting him out of the game? I guess it depends on the value you place upon it. If you are getting on base, you always have the opportunity to score. But if you get in to the other teams bullpen, your opportunity to score inscreases significantly as those arms arent as talented (generally).
  3. Nope, I work in law enforcement (since 2006). Therefore, the stress of my job would leave me bald regardless.
  4. You are correct. I am bald, but have been shaving my own head for 20+ years!
  5. Batting leadoff isn't necessarily about OBP. Its about seeing pitches, making a pitcher work...which eventually leads to getting on base. I don't care if we have a guy that gets on base at a .333 clip as long as he is making the pitcher throw 6/7 pitches an AB and getting him closer to the 100 mark.
  6. The season begins in 2 weeks. Spring training is REALLY about getting the arms ready. Kimbrel is miles away at this point. Its crazy to say, but if he doesn't sign soon...he may be out of a job......and praying to sign a minor league deal NEXT year. It sounds crazy, but who pays big money for a pitcher than hasnt pitched in a year?
  7. f*** you. Only 18 to go? How many of those Championships were you alive to see when recruiting and Free Agency wasn't regulated? Thats what I hate about Yankee Fans, living on the championships of the 1920s, when their grandparents werent even born. Give me a break. Since you and I have been born, the scoreboard is Yankees 5, Redsox 4. Stop cowering into the ones you know nothing about, or never saw. I guarantee I know more about the Yankee players than you do. Don't be a fraud. Don't hide behind championships that don't mean anything 100 years later, when Free Agents and the MLB draft was regulated.
  8. Wasn't arguing you, if anything....I was agreeing.
  9. I am never out of piss and vinegar. Ever. A Redsox fan forum doesn't determine that. Be stronger. Whenever I have been here, whether it was everyday 14 years ago, or my short spurts in between, I have always been who I am. Be you Bellhorn, f*** the world
  10. Let me simplify it for you. The Sox have 3 catchers. 1 makes more than the rest. 1 is older than the rest. The other 2 have the potential to be better. Simple decision.

So true. Its not what it used to be, and never will be. Thank god for the WWE Network.
  12. ********. Nobody is going to pay him what he wants.
  13. Well, replacing a super talented prospect with someone who retired is stupid, but we can pretend like Dallas didnt say that stuff and just talk about Devers cant we?
  14. There was nothing special about Workman to begin with. His "stuff" has looked significantly different since he returned from injury a couple years ago. Some are meaningless. For guys like Thornburg though, he is out there trying to showcase his stuff. He is not guarenteed a roster spot. He is fighting for his career, and he looks terrible. Spring Training is funny, there are certain players that get evaluated differently than others, whether they are going against the College team, Single-A or the big leaguers.
  15. Maybe you haven't read the whole thread? Or maybe you don't know how to quote individual posts? I just said he has all world talent and that I hope he develops it.
  16. Well, look at the overall numbers over the last 40 years. Attempts way down, OBP% way up. Being on base, means more than stealing a base.
  17. Devers is sloppy, but, he still looks like a skinnyfat 16 year old (a teenager that still has babyfat). He is so young, he still has potential to develop defensive skills, and this is coming from someone who predicted hed make 40 errors last year. His bat needs to significantly develop. He has the power of a lumberjack, but he need to start approaching his AB's better. His numbers could moonrocket once he has an understanding of the strike zone and game situations.
  18. Easy to blame him. How much easier is the decision if he had a closer? Does Pedro fight the decision if he trusts the guy following him? We don't know, but, we do know they didn't have a true closer.......regardless, weve gone off topic, this thread is about Betts. We can agree to disagree.
  19. This all sounds great. Swihart is making the team over Leon though. Vasquez will finally be given the opportunity to be a starting catcher, and Swihart will finally be given the opportunity to develop (a couple years late, due to injury, yips, etc.) into a productive MLB hitter. That being said, I have no issue with Leon being on the roster as Chris Sale's defensive binky, but the other guys need to be groomed. They are more talented and have bigger futures. The redsox success is not going to fall on the shoulders of 3 (at this time) average catchers. They need to develop the younger ones.
  20. Joke as you like. If I recall though, how did 2003 work out for us? Oh yeah!!!! Thats right, a closer short of (most likely) a World Series title.
  21. 2016? You mean the year he was playing LF? Blake Swihart recovering from ankle injury WWW.MLB.COM BOSTON -- Blake Swihart was in high spirits as he rolled into the Red Sox clubhouse on a knee scooter before taking a seat at his locker on Sunday. The catcher/left fielder had a successful left ankle surgery on Aug. 15 and is expected to be ready for Spring Training.Sporting Regardless, we will find out when Swihart remains on this roster at the end of the month.
  22. Yes. You would see they have already said they are looking to unload one of their catchers. Seems like Leon is your binky though. You should get used to the fact he may be the odd man out.
  23. In 2019, with social media and all the ********, we'd know this by now.
  24. I looked at those numbers. Maybe I was thinking of someone else, but for some reason, I thought that Brasier struggled at the end of the year. If i am wrong, I have no problem admitting that. Question though, if he was so great at the end of the year and in the postseason, why not just name him the closer?
  25. Road map? Started Playing professionally at 19, was in the MLB as a Catcher at the age of 23 after short stops in AA and AAA. At age 24, they named him the starting LF due to his offensive potential, even though he had no experience in the OF, until he got hurt. We haven't traded him yet. He has managed to stick with this team regardless of the opportunities hes gotten. He is not going anywhere. They need to at least see what he can do when healthy.
