  1. The bullpen is not the problem. The problem is the starting rotation, and its not close. They are down 5+ runs every night so far through the first couple innings.
  2. They arent re-signing him. You can win with a couple ponies in the lineup, as long at your arms are horses. Mookie Betts, is gone. Need to start realizing that now. Everyone else is getting their contracts. Betts and the Sox wont even sit down and talk after they insulted him last year. Its over.
  3. There really aren't many examples, but also, this is a different time. Jose Canseco 5/23.5 was a big number 30 years ago....... Manny Ramirez 8/160 was a big number 20 years ago..... These guys now, are asking for 1/2 a billion dollars. Its crazy, and they have sucked the fun out of being a fan. I havent gone to a game in a couple years, and to be honest, I dont know if I ever really want to go to another game. Not while my 15$ beer, 10$ hot dog and 8$ bottle of water are funding the whole greedy operation.
  4. I actually agree with you. Absolutely shop him around. They have nothing to lose, other than the player when he leaves following next year. Mookie Betts is worthless if the Starting Pitchers cant stop allowing 7ER in less than 2 innings every night. Need more arms. Always need arms.
  5. JD is terrible when he puts a fielding glove on. Doesn't matter which position.
  6. This is correct too. George cared about winning at all costs, especially after their mid 90's run. The sons seem to care about the bottom line more. The only reason we spend more than they do, is because they are choosing not to. Dont get it confused though, money doesnt only buy championships. Money also buys bad contracts. At the end of the day, John Henry has his limits as well. Im sure hes not happy writing an 18M dollar check to Pablo this year, or the 2M to Manny every year for like 10 more years.
  7. Moonslav, as a Sox fan.....regardless of any number you could provide.....its a terrible comparison. Sox spend WAYYYYYY more than anyone right now, and its not like the Sox haven't had the money to go toe for toe with the Yankees. A real complaint is how the Yankees cheated the draft and free agency system in the 20's and 30's, when they won the MAJORITY of their WS titles. Doesnt matter now, its 100 years later. Barely anyone alive remembers them, and the Yankees havent had "real" fans in forever since the entire city is full of transplants. The funny part is when Yankees beat their chests about their 27 championships, but most alive have only seen 5 or so.......you know, when the game actually had rules and regulations about the draft/free agency etc.
  8. Wasnt sure which Billy Williams your UN was after....player or coach. Now I know. Yankees havent been relevant to Sox fans in 10 years. If you take out 2009, its been 15 years. Go away.
  9. Ahhhhhh, the front desk.....aka Rat squad.
  10. JD Martinez will come MUCH cheaper than Betts. Age and lack of a position will hurt his negotiation. Martinez will be re-signed, Betts will be a FA.
  11. 1 Season. Most wins by a Sox team ever. Dominated the playoffs. Won the World Series. Pretty decent start to his resume.
  12. You are mad the Yankees haven't really been relevant to Boston fans in 10 years. Minus 2009, and its been 15 years.
  13. Bogaerts contract is further evidence that Betts will not be re-signed.
  14. I dont remember who said Benny looked heavy......but theyre crazy. He looks great.
  15. Benny is going to have a big year......25+ HR
  16. No. You still don't get it. He was eligible for arbitration, to negotiate for MORE money.....he is still guaranteed his contract. ALL MLB CONTRACTS ARE GUARANTEED. End of argument. Just because they are scheduled for arbitration doesn't mean the club is off the hook. It only means the player has a right to negotiate for more money before his preliminary contract expires. MLB CONTRACTS ARE GUARANTEED. WHY DO YOU THINK THE METS ARE PAYING FOR BOBBY BONILLA FOR NEARLY 30 YEARS?!?!?!?!?!?!?! MLB contracts are guaranteed. EDIT: I did a little more research, you may have been right. If Leon elected free agency rather than assignment, it would have cost him 2.475M Im never afraid to admit I am wrong, you were right.
  17. But......who is the closer?
  18. Devers to hit 3rd in the lineup on opening day (night).
  19. Are you a Cubs fan? If so, go away? What do you care about David Ortiz? The only player that mattered to the joke "Cubbies" (cute names go with s***** teams) was one of the biggest cheaters in the history of baseball. Aren't there any good Cubs forums for you to troll? Or did they realize you aren't a real Cubs fan either?
  20. Wrong. http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/guaranteed-contract He was signed to a MAJOR LEAGUE CONTRACT. Major league contracts are guaranteed. Straight from the MLB website.

I waited 2 days for you to reply. And you didn't disappoint.
  22. I said this as well!!!!! They were paying him, regardless. Its better we have him as insurance, then paying him to be released. We didn't have a choice. He was getting paid the 2.4 regardless.
  23. I was not taking a shot at you. I apologize if thats how you read it. If anything I was giving all the members a pat on the back because everyone behaves, for the most part. Except Seabeachfred.
