  1. Luckily, Sox medical staff have always been open and honest, and for the most part correct about their diagnosis's. (sarcasm) The only way we will know, is by watching him pitch when he eventually takes the ball again.
  2. I love you Rafael, but I think it has been proven guys who were in the Inverted W position, or Inverted L position, whichever you prefer (elbows same height as shoulders) at front foot ground strike are more likely to have TJS injury.
  3. Has anyone come out and said anything about no ligament tears? They said he doesn't need surgery, but has anyone actually said there are no ligament tears?
  4. Thats what happens to those MMA guys after a while. They either get old, or they lose the drive. See Chuck Liddell, possibly one of the baddest men on the planet at one point.

  6. Shaw needs to learn how to play LF as quickly as possible. Still scratch my head that Hanley couldn't figure it out when you look at the players theyve rolled out there over the years........ Jose Canseco who was essentially done as an OF. Reggie Jefferson who was a career 1B/DH. Wil Cordero who was a failed 2B. Kevin Youkilis.... Brian Daubach.... Kevin Millar.... Eric Hinske... Carlos Pena... ....all of them made appearances in LF. I think Shaw can figure it out...
  7. Foulke. His career was over after those appearances. He gave everything he had for that 04 WS.
  8. If we were retiring every Sox player with Variteks production, we would run out of numbers.....No.
  9. Kimmi looks/reads/sounds a lot like Emmz.
  10. Love you. Lets make this place interesting again.......
  11. Unfortunately, it seems at times that the ones the Sox trade do turn out.....and the ones we keep dont.
  12. Yup. I think Uehara was deserving.......Xander was......but everyone else, no way. Brock Holt, while it has been a great story, and I enjoy watching him play...reminds me of the years when the Sox sent Scott Cooper to the AS game twice. Brock Holt making the all star game is like Steve Lyons making the all star game.
  13. Turd Ferguson will take Ape Tit for $300
  14. The two game series, and the upcoming all star game messed with the schedule I believe. Luck of the draw I suppose...
  15. Rusney at this point reminds me of Wily Mo Pena, the comparison is not the power.......but the ability. They both have all the gifts in the world, WMP was never able to figure it out, and it appears Rusney is heading down a similar path. In fairness, he was out of the game completely for almost 2 years I believe (correct me if Im wrong). He is 28, but with the professional experience of a 26 year old.....and even that must be scaled back, because he has only been in the states for 1.5 years. He SHOULD be in AA at this point in a normal career path......he is instead learning on the fly in the MLB.
  16. Xander is a snub, hes one of the best SS in the game halfway through.
  17. I do appreciate the apology Thunder, seriously......and Spud. I know there are people here who know what Im about, RSFFL, VA, a700, Spudboy, SFOC, Pal, YOTN, UserName, yeszir,.... If MVP has an issue......owell, keep pounding away at that keyboard bro.... MVP I love you, lets be friends?
  18. MVP angry.....must show internet rage... Get a life. God forbid that I was critical and decided to start following a NL team. SBF was a whole different animal, he actually changed teams......multiple times. I simply added another one to start following.....in the NL, and truth be told....I only follow them because of Theo and Lester, so f*** off. Ill continue to keep the avatar up, just because you are an internet tough guy, bitch.
  19. I am first and foremost a Redsox fan......have been for 32 years. I really dislike the Redsox FO. The championships have been nice, but the periods in between them are really brutal. I also cant stand how they treat people that leave the organization. I took an interest in the Cubs in the offseason. Cubs fans are alot like us pre 2004. When they hired Theo, traded for Rizzo and signed Lester......it is hard not to root for them. They are underdogs and 3 major components of their franchise were once part of ours.
  20. Well thank you Thunder....I truly appreciate the apology. Lets continue the convo...
  21. He is 38, and he has NEVER really played 1B at the big league level. He has that going against him. My question isnt whether or not he should, but whether or not he can.....he appears to be athletic enough to do it. I dont see how fielding 1 or 2 grounders and making 10 or so putouts will affect him. It really comes down to his comfort level, which sorry to say....means nothing when we have Hanley out in LF who looks like a deer in headlights. At least Ortiz appears to be comfortbale at !B, and I dont give a s*** what he says about willing to play 1B or not.....if it helps the team, and they win....suck it up, it may help him more than hurt him in the end.
  22. The problem with this team? Yeah, easy to blame BC and the owners........in years past. This year, its on the players. Yeah, Kelly and Craig bombed....and Porcello was overpaid......there is still too much talent on this team to suck this bad thus far. Plenty of teams have done better with less. The rotation has under-performed, but it looks like they are finally starting to come around.
  23. Thanks Spud, how are you doing? Been a long time...... How do you feel about my original comment? Its hard to come back and contribute to the board with members like him....
  24. Seriously?
  25. Right now, there is no question that the best offensive and defensive lineup the Sox can put together is with Hanley at DH and Ortiz at 1B. The Ortiz at 1B discussion is interesting. Imagine him, showing the ability to play 1B at his age.....it would do wonders for his HOF candidacy. The proposition is two fold: 1A. There is a team need for Hanley to put the glove away, he has killed them. 1B. Napoli has been terrible, Ortiz has been at least serviceable offensively, maybe putting on the glove for the first time in 15 years will help him. 2. Selfishly, if David can show he has any ability at all at 1B.....and I understand it is late in his career, but it may help his HOF potential. He has NEVER been a fulltime 1B'man. He was buried behind Doug Mientewicz (sp) in MIN and when he came to Boston, he was originally viewed as a spare part behind Kevin Millar and Jeremy Giambi. He found his niche replacing Giambi at DH as Millar started off hot at 1B, and the rest is history....a career DH. What if he can actually play the position? I know this may be a pipe dream, but it is at least intriguing as the season moves along......... What if.....David Ortiz can actually play 1B?
