Yup, weve been at blows.....as far as typing on a keyboard goes. That was always the thing about this place. The people here were your "internet" friends. It was a really tight knit group. We had our differences, but we always respected each other. We always knew we could ask each other for help. In a lot of cases, we actually did help each other out outside of the forum in our REAL lives. We knew each other on the outside. We used to have meet and greets. We (forum members) would meet up and go to Sox games together.

Awful to hear about Michael and how he died in an automobile accident down in Florida. He was a great kid, and always messaging me about his ambition to work in law enforcement. Such an awful story. Has Dipre been around? I just messaged him on facebook. Glad to see he is living in the USA

What happened here? This place is not what I remembered. I remember thinking that the last time I started posting after a hiatus, which is why I left again. This place was great once, a lot of A-type people with strong opinions and a great back and forth dialogue among members. Members who could take a beating, then give a beating when merited. He was so bad at one point after the break, they were talking about sending him down. I’d say there is definitely a chance he regresses to one of those 3 I listed. You guys talk like he has a sample size to go with, but there isn’t. He was really good 1st half, really bad for a stretch, and finished somewhere in between. I think that’s where he is, somewhere in between. Certainly not 52 HR good. He will be in the 30-40 range, and his average/onbase/sluggin numbers will come down.

This makes no sense. When the player is 25+ years old, he is no longer considered a MLB prospect. Its not easier to scout foreign players, thats why so few of them actually produce. Much easier to scout a collegiate player, since that's what they have always done. Foreign amateur competition is impossible to scout, since its no where near the competition in the collegiate levels. You still didn't quote correctly and everything is bold, not sure if you said it, or someone else did.

I always lurk other teams site. To be honest, its a reflection of this board. Jacko is/has always been one of the most active members. About 10 years ago, there were a bunch more Yankee fans here as well, when there was actually a rivalry. I always welcome a different opinion/perspective. I already voiced my opinion on foreign players with Otani. I'll say it here too, so all races are included since moonslav insinuated I am racist. Why bother in investing in all of these untested, unchallenged players from countries other than the DR? If they wanted to play with the big boys, they would have found a way to get to the US and compete collegiately. It almost seems like they go for the easy route, putting up huge numbers against AA competition and remaining where they are until they are 27/28 years old, then getting a huge payday. Want proof of the inferior competition? Just take a look at these MLB flameouts: Orestes Destrade Randy Bass Julio Zuleta Tuffy Rhodes Alex Cabrera Wladimir Balentien All of them were HUGE home run hitting stars in professional baseball outside of the MLB. Why? Because they were playing against A/AA quality players, thats why.

Very. Not with this clubs resrouces. Not with this GM's willingness to trade away dollar scratch tickets (so called prospects). DD gets a bad name for depleting the minors. While it may have hurt in Detroit where they dont win, and where they dont have big market payroll, in Boston....we have the monetary assets to make up for dealing prospects. IMO, thats all the minor league system is, a dollar scratch ticket. Some teams have to rely heavily on developing minor league talent, like the Marlins......but what do the Marlins do with that talent once they develop it? They trade it away it the big dogs, like the RedSox....for their own low minors scratch tickets. Other than Jeff Bagwell, let me know when the RedSox get hosed trading their minor league talent away, while getting nothing in return.
