  1. ANNNNNNNND wrong.
  2. He faced a National League team in a National League park, something hes quite used to, considering thats what his whole career was about until this point. Nothing to get excited about yet. Lets see how he does against good hitting American League teams....wait, we already know, and it was pretty terrible with a 5.something ERA while being called an ace.
  3. Solid Inning.
  4. Not sure they would move him for Nixon, who makes big money and give him away for a rent-a-player considering they wont pay Nixon the money he will demand in the offseason. It is a good trade idea though....Id take it.
  5. Well...Hunter would have to waive his no trade clause twice...once with Boston, then once with ANH...then ANH would have to agree to trade for Hunter, and they would give them Hunter, Anderson, Vlad, Erstad, Rivera and occasionally Salmon as OF's. I am willing to bet they are looking for more of a big bat at 1B.
  6. A lot of things have to happen for that to work.
  7. It was a publicity stunt, and selfish act by his son. His son did it to "show the love he had for his father". After Teddy Ballgames death the whole family swarmed to get their piece. This was just an attempt to show the public he should be the heir to the property and goods....not to mention the fact they froze their father in an attempt to sell his DNA in the future.
  8. I agree. Everyone is freaking out like we are 10 games out. We were leading this thing and we have not played very well lately, which is very encouraging. Just remember, we think we have it bad, but we are a first place contending team. Imagine what its like to be a fan in KC, Colorado, TB or other shithole ball teams. We are playing awful, and we are still contending right now, keep the faith.
  9. The grammar checker and spell checker seem to not be working as well.
  10. I still dont get it. Why is Seanez bashed so bad? This year he has been better than everyone else not named Papelbon or Timlin from the pen. We have no proof that MDC or Hansen are better at this point than Seanez because both have been shaky in their limited appearances, plus Hansen is having a hard time not walking the world in AAA. We are competing for a division title here, and while both have tremendous potential, Im not so sure now is the best time to see what they have. We are not the KC Royals, or the Detroit Tigers a few years back parading our young arms to the mound every night hoping they can learn on the fly. Hansen is not even a year removed from college. There are tremendous expectations on his shoulders and I would hate to see what it would do to his psyche if he were to fail. Let the kids grow up before we stick them in the middle of a division title race.....lets not forget...we were leading this thing a few days ago....and thats scary as bad has it has been for this team lately. Things can only get better, and all along ive had faith in Seanez, and obviously someone else does high in the RedSox front Office if they want to keep him over Riske.
  11. In the stock market which is our bullpen, I would have to say Seanez's stock just rose significantly. God I hate Tavarez. He reminds me of Ramiro Mendoza, a middle inning guy with previous success who we sign in their early 30's, and they have zero stuff left, and years remaining on the deal. We have to deal with this for another season, god help us.
  12. To be honest....I dont think they ever expect him to be ready. I dont really think he is a prospect. He is the right handed version of Abe Alvarez. A minor leaguer who puts up above average minor league numbers with a ceiling in the minor leagues rather than majors. He is projected at MAYBE a four or five spot in a rotation. http://soxprospects.com/players/pauley-dave.htm The thing about Hansen, is that his control was awful in AAA http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Craig%20Hansen&pos=P&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=475022 He had 18 BB and 20 Hits in 22.2/3 innings. So that is the issue with him right now, and which is why they are picking spots to use him in.
  13. His situation seems very similar with that of Ramiro Mendoza when he was here...same type of pitcher, previous success, comes here for some money.......stinks up the joint
  14. Good responses guys...I do think it is very unlikely, but it makes for good conversation. I think he was moved into the rotation because the cubs/marlins were both shorthanded at the time, and I also dont think he did all that bad. 2000 and 2001 he had eras in the mid fours.....which is leaps and bounds ahead of Clement. He struggled in 2002 with and ERA of 5.39.....which is, if anybody is counting.....still better than clement. Nice to know that he did do it though.
  15. Maybe...just maybe Tavarez could plug some of those holes...honestly, Id probably prefer to see him out there than that gutless Clement.
  16. With the trouble we are having in the starting rotation, why not use tavarez as a starter? He has done it before, and is known for a rubber arm. Its clear he doesnt have much value in the bullpen, and it is not always his fault (Franconas usage), but why not? That way when we get arms back, we can DL Clement, Wells and whomever else....just a thought to kick around....
  17. http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/team/transactions.jsp?c_id=bos
  18. He was sent down after the game...to make room for Timlin.
  19. I still think he is pitching better than Tavarez, Foulke, Riske....and just about anyone else in the pen not named Papelbon. I guess not allowing an ER in 1 month and seven days doesnt mean anything nowadays. I mean, come on....the last earned run he allowed was on May 4th....thats a LONG time ago. The blame deserves to go on the shoulders of someone else, I dont know why Seanez is always the scrapegoat.
  20. I dont think it was exactly ever an "experiment" per se. They needed someone to fill the gaps and decided Lester wasnt ready three weeks ago, and they already knew what they were going to get outta Abey babe. I dont think they honestly expected very much from the AA kid, they wanted to see exactly what he had, and they knew he could possibly throw a lot of grounders. I think the FO was very pleased with what they got outta him in NY, but they expected more of the previous and latter against Toronto and Texas which was about 5 IP, 4 or 5 ER. This is not a knock on the kid either, He faced the cream of the crop in terms of offenses...things just didnt go hiw way, but I really doubt they were expected to either.
  21. For an interesting statistic...how about the RedSox .990 fielding percentage? They have had some pretty lousy defensive teams over the years...nice to see them at the top of the pack in league fielding...
  22. Another scoreless solid inning, Ive been pulling for the guy all year, he continues to pitch better....its funny when you look at all of the postings in this thread....I said it all along, if he can control his fastball....his offspeed pitches are devastating. In other news....Why is that Bum Tavarez still with the club? Hopefully he goes down with some phantom fingernail injury soon...
  23. Yeah, didnt even think about him....but he was used the previous 2 outta three games in a three game stretch. Last night might have overdone it. Also, this season Tito seems to be rotating the guys hes calling from the bullpen every other game. (Since his guns Timlin and Foulke have not been available)
  24. I think he has more value than Tavarez or Riske. Those guys are flat out bums. Tavarez never seemed like a good fit anyhow.
  25. Nobody deserves the blame. Who else was he going to bring in? Foulke? No, hurt Timlin? DL VanBuren? Sent down Papelbon to pitch 2 2/3 innings? Yeah if you dont want a closer by years end. Hansen? The guy proobably didnt even have his spikes on yet. Riske? Blah Tavarez? Blah The Bullpen is severely depleted. Of the choices, Francona said that Seanez had the best track record, and he has been pitching much better lately. Yeah it sucks that he walked in the winning run, but its not exactly easy to walk into that situation with the sacks jacked in Yankees stadium and come away unscathed. Worse things have happened. How about a little encouragement for the guy who about a month ago had an ERA of about 12.50. The real concern was the night before when Beckett got lit up like a Christmas tree five days after allowing four HR to the Jays.
