  1. Give me a break, both teams spend shitloads of money and we created the term to make ourselves feel better because even though we do spend shitloads of money on players....the yankees spend more, so in spite we say our players play the game harder and earn their money.
  2. Dirtdog = a player not good enough to be called "above average". A term Boston fans created to make themselves feel better about their team in comparison to NY's high priced roster. A term which should not be used today because the salaries of the teams are very similar. Example: Alex Rodriguez is a pretty boy > Bill Mueller is a dirtdog, hes a PRO Jason Giambi takes steroids > Kevin Millar is a dirtdog COWBOY UP! Gary Sheffield is a prick > Trot Nixon is a dirtdog, look at the way he hustles Alfonso Soriano swings at so many pitches > Mark Bellhorn is wicked smarht, hes a moneyball dirtdog. Johnny Damon looks like cocky prick > Johnny Damon is a dirtdog because he runs into walls and has a long beard and long hair.
  3. I remember when I started a thread titled, "Trot Nixon's Power Outage" and got massacred by some for it. Cya later Trot, you never quite filled your expectations, you were overrated, the dirt dog persona is overrated, and you were very overpaid. That being said, he is a tremendous guy and his clubhouse intangibles will be missed. If you wanna come back for 2 years at 1 million per and take a diminished role I would be more than happy to have ya....but your just not good enough, and minus two decent seasons you never were as good as you were supposed to be....not to mention that injuries sought after you like flys on s***.
  4. No Problem.
  5. I always say this to my friends, and they always get a kick out of it. After Gabe swings mightily and hits a smash of a pop-up to second base, "Ive never seen a more jacked man in baseball hit so few balls out of the infield" Whatever hes juicing on, I guess the theory is correct that juice does not make you a good ballplayer, because Gabe Kapler should be looking for a refund.
  6. I think this thread is so funny. The Pats will be contending for the SB, no doubt in my mind. Anyone who thinks Miami is anywhere in the same league as NE is way off. If the Baltimore Ravens can win the super bowl with Trent Dilfer and Tony Banks at QB throwing to Quadry Ismail with a grand total of 49 receptions in 2000 and an old Shannon Sharpe Id say we are fine. Now, Im not comparing our defense to theirs, but ours is pretty damn good. Its solid all the way around. We have maybe the best DLine in the league, one of the top linebacking cores in the league and our secondary doesnt have any glaring weaknesses like it did a year back. If we play good defense and move the ball (like we have with VERY impressive rushing numbers), and manage the clock well (Brady and Belichick are very good at this) and Brady continues makes key completions we will win, and be very successful. The dynasty is not over, it is rebuilt and ready to win once again. All three of our Dlineman are 25 or younger, our offensive line is very young and good, we have arguably the best QB in the league, we have a rising star at TE, we have a young gun at RB, and our CB's were both rookies last year and played pretty well given their circumstances. If we continue to hammer the ball with the RB's, and give Brady 3rd and shorts....not only will we move the chains....but also take chunks of time off the clock and tire out defenses. Regardless of the fact that we dont have a star WR the Patriots are a very hard team to match up with. No LB can match up with Watson, no LB can match up with Faulk, Maroney and Dillon stay fresh and punish LB's and tire them out, and while all of this is going on WR's will spring lose not to mention that with the Pats strong rushing attack they will eventually be able to run play-fakes further opening up lanes and seams to hit receivers. The Pats really are a defensive coaches nightmare regardless of their WR situation. Football games are won in the trenches. We have a very impressive Dline, and Oline....and they are only a few years removed from college ball. Id say we are right where we want to be and its going to be fun to watch.
  7. Yeah I made a few changes lol...see if you can find the other ones
  8. Take a look at it now  :harhar:
  9. Will the Sox dump Wells, and hopefully other overpaid veterans at the 8/31 deadline? I call it the 8/31 deadline because that is the last day that teams can add players who will be eligible for their postseason roster other than through DL extreme moves like K-rod. Obviously we wont get much in return except hopefully some more payroll flexibility... Whats the verdict?
  10. I really like Theo, and like his plan.....but after renterria and crisp....two huge blunders, you have to wonder. At least Mota and Marte arent tearing it up.
  11. Hillenbrand was drafted as a SS and converted to C in the minors only to be reconverted to 3B then 1B.
  12. No I didnt because he covers zero ground....dives for balls he cant reach and drops ones he should catch. Not to mention Coco makes Johnny Damon look like Vlad in terms of throwing arm strength. What a piece of crap he is, he truly sucks ass.
  13. I dont think people would put a lot of effort in to a registration....only to make 1 single post and then be banned. I mean, who wants to write a three paragraph registration form only to make one single comment like "REDSOX SUCK" only to be banned? I still think it is a better option than what we have going on now, at least SOME of those idiots would rather do something else with their time.
  14. I haven't logged on in a few days and I was browsing through the fights and crap section. Holy s*** I think I almost had a seizure. I think there needs to be some kind of a limit as to the number of posts a member has before they can start their own thread. This is really starting to get out of hand (as it usually does when the sox start sucking, or NY comes to town). I think that most of the posters who have been around a little while now can agree that we don't need this bullcrap. It really frustrates me and makes me not want to post here. Isn't there anything we can do to clean up some of these useless people we have signing up everyday and littering this nice place to post with their garbage? I know we can block them, but I think my block list would get a little extensive. I think there should be some sort of guidelines about when new members can start threads or even post. I think that maybe it should be a little bit like SOSH where we have to put a little thought into our registration form and depending on the quality of the registration, decide whether or not to accept the registration to have posting abilities. Anyone feel similar to this after the s*** thats been going on here lately? Let's keep this a good clean fun place to post.
  15. A salary cap would kill us too, not just NY.....its not like we dont have our fair share of terrible contracts.
  16. LOL.....I agree again. Why not finish the season with some of the players who WILL be here next year? After watching that series against NYY I honestly don't want this team to make the playoffs because they are simply not that good. It would only be a tease and everyone will be pissed when they get swept much like last season. NY played the series like a playoff team, Boston played it like the bad team they are. (well not bad....but certainly not the way a playoff team would.)
  17. Yeah??? "WELLL THAYD B FINE IF THEYZZ DIDN TRADE BRONSON ARROYO YO! THEYD BE SIK N ILL IF THEY KEPT THAT MONSTAH" - typical sox fan who blames everything that has happened this season on the one, insignificant transaction which occured this season. I agree jsinger, and ive said it all along....theo didnt do anything to help this team at the deadline because inside he knew how good they really were. They are cooked.
  18. I love the trade too, but whos to say he would have 10 wins in the AL? He struggled to get that 10th win. Who knows.......he may have been a complete disappointment, and i dont think that is completely out of question. What we do know is that WMP is a monster and getting better every day. The upside at this point is very clear.
  19. Ed Sprague too!
  20. ......and people racking up 1000 posts on useless crap. I actually stay away from the game threads and find them quite annoying.
  21. http://www.liveharmony.org/landing.html?source=jusr This site provides the service for you for free.....it appears anyway.
  22. Id still like to see it. Live chat that is.
  23. Bronson Arroyos ERA has been about 5.27 over the last 2 months of the season.....which translates to about 7.00 in the AL. Boston has not played "great" over the last 2 months. What does this mean? It means Bronson Arroyo would have contributed NOTHING better than what the sox have gotten over the last two months.
