  1. I've liked what I've seen out of Albers. Jenks stuff is there, he's just having major control issues.
  2. Red Sox 7-8-9 hitters tonight are hitting .352. That's not an average that's a summation.
  3. People are worrying about Gonzalez way too much. He's fine. Every once in a while a power hitter only hits 1 homerun in a month. If he was battign .200 I'd be worried, but he's batting almost .300 and driving guys in with a lot of doubles.
  4. Caught driving under the influence Thursday night, former Red Sox pitcher Derek Lowe was arrested for a DUI and reckless driving. http://www.nesn.com/2011/04/derek-lowe-arrested-charged-with-dui-reckless-driving.html Lot of former ex-Soxs are having run ins with the law lately. I always thought D-Lowe was more of a standup guy than say Carl Everett, so this one surprises me. Pitching-wise Lowe has had a solid track record since he left Boston, would have rather seen him here than the likes of Dice-K or Lackey. One of my favorite moments was the his no hitter at Fenway. Was actually at that game.
  5. 1 Dice-K has had probably his 2 best outings in a Red Sox uniform in his last 2 starts 2 it's Seattle who is probably one of the worst offensive teams of the past decade. If I've learned anything from the last 5 years of Dice K it's that he will go 4.1 IP 10H, 5 ER, 5 BB
  6. Am I the only one who heard Rick Dempsey compare Mark Reynolds to Mike Schmidt? Just checking... smh
  7. AMEN on that brother
  8. Lowrie Crawford Youkilis Gonzalez Pedroia Ortiz Drew Saltamachia Ellsbury Crawford hitting ahead of Youkilis would be perfect. A guy who works the count and makes the pitcher work. With Crawford on the bases, the pticher would go nuts.
  9. Bill Mueller won a batting title out of the 7 hoel for the Red Sox. They pushed the ALCS to seven games that year. OVer the course of a season you get what, like 50 less plate appearances in the #7 hole? I'd rather have been hitters like Pedroia, Youkilis or Gonzalez In the 2,3,4 hole. 1st or 5th? Would work, I actually liked him batting leadoff, but Crawford isn't a middle of the order hitter on this team.
  10. I like Crawford where he is at #7. I just don't think he's a #3 hitter on this team. I say this even if he's batting .300
  11. Can anyone confirm for me that the DH can only hit for the pitcher? We should have him hit for Varitek, and then let Beckett bat.
  12. Speaking of guys named Carl: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/articles/2011/04/26/ex_mlb_outfielder_carl_everett_arrested_in_fla/
  13. I think Crawford will get more jsut by the fact he's battign 7th/8th at this point. Need to get into scoring position cause he's only got guys like Salty/Scutaro batting behind him. If Ellsbury is on base in front of Pedroia/Gonzo I'd imagine he'd have the red light on occasion.
  14. It should be like Major League where after each win we have the girl take off a peice of clothing
  15. I still say give him time. The pitchers like him. Varitek likes him.
  16. A-Rod is indeed a douche. I've heard plenty of stories from first hand accounts. Cab drivers who he doesn't tip, walking into a starbucks and having his assistant order him a coffee while he ignores everyone in the room and stands in the corner and texts. Just to name a few. I could keep going. Everyone forgets he tried to cheat in the 2004 ALCS with the gloveslap http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/37129_486119367106_91065952106_7361734_1779394_n.jpg
  17. I've never seen a team just blantantly handicap themselves by making a poor reactionary move because they lost out on a free agent. (Angels aquiring Vernon Wells)
  18. I knew we'd get back to respectability at some point, but not this quick. Our pitching has been filthy and our hitting adequate. Now if only our hitting can get to where it was supposed to be...
  19. Angels fans threw wadded dollar bills at Carl Crawford while he was on deck in the 11th inning of Thursday's game. You stay classy, Anahiem http://mit.zenfs.com/121/2011/04/crawford22.jpg This happened on Thursday apparently, just saw it on yahoo today though. Pretty funny, but I don't really understand Angels' fans logic on this one. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Angels-fans-make-it-rain-in-Carl-Crawford-8217-;_ylt=ApFyRacksHjTuskJt55Uv4xDWtAF?urn=mlb-wp4122
  20. Those who say the Red Sox need to find options elsewhere at this point just don't udnerstand what they would be getting into. Trying to find a catcher from another team or gof forbid from our system would be a big mistake. In essense you'd be taking 3 steps back to take 1 step forward. Just would not make any sense. Give Salty another couple months.
  21. ORS you can do gamethreads until the end of time
  22. I said the title may have been tainted, not the Red Sox team. Obviously the Red Sox did nothign wrong. But if you play for a title and you later learn your opposition tanked for a payday... would you feel 100% fufilled? Or like you completely earned it? No. Also, the part I bolded in your post really doesn't make much sense to me.
  23. I went to bed while Beckett still had his no-no. Shows you how tired I was.
