  1. Let's just say I'm curious. I know for a fact he will change to subject to something along the lines about Garnett and about how much of a @$$ he is, or something about Paul Pierce's wheelchair.
  2. Here, I'll play this game too. lol Alright so, they should just wait a little while before trying to win. I mean possibly until their 30s, cause they won't be hungry for a championship till then. Why can't you set a benchmark of a championship this year? Anything else is a failure. Wade, Lebron, Bosh have all acknowledged this. Miami Heat didn't seem to have any concerns about his elbow injury, did they? Oh wait, that's right... there was no injury. Yeah it is easy for me to say that I would sign a contract for 6 years of my life to work with people who I'd generally expect to get along with. But that's just me. lol You're right, using other teams as examples of how to build an NBA team means nothing. Only 1 team besides Celtics, Lakers, Spurs, Pistons, Bulls and Rockets have won championships in the last 25 years. That would be your D-Whistle and the 2006 Miami Heat. You're right, using other teams as examples of how to an NBA team will fare means nothing. Only 1 team besides Celtics, Lakers, Spurs, Pistons, Bulls and Rockets have won championships in the last 25 years. That would be your D-Whistle and the 2006 Miami Heat. For every humble quote you can nitpick from the Heat, I can easily find 10 arrogant ones. Like how everyone should refer to them as the Heatles, or how they deserve and will get 6 or 7 championships. Or Lebron "I can't defer." Ya. Rly. Celtics are 2-0 against the Heat this year. lol Yes, covering it up would help. IF opposing teams know you're weak they will tend to find ways to exploit it. OK LOL Zing! If only you correctly captured my job description.
  3. Wow, never thought I'd get ripped apart for posting Heat hate. If one doesn't understand why Lebron isn't all that is wrong with the NBA, you obviously haven't been watching close enough. There is a reason the sport is losing ground in popularity.
  4. Alex Rodriguez and Mark McGwire are the only ones I'm aware of. I'm pretty sure Jose Canseco has too, but I don't think he held a press conference or anything.
  5. I'm worried we may never see the same Josh Beckett again. However I'm optomistic that Dice-K will be a bit better than anyone expects this year.
  6. People tend to forget admist all the injuries on the offensive side of the ball the Red Sox were still 2nd in the majors in runs scored last year. The Sox major problem last year was their pitching which outside of our top 2 starters was below average at best. The defense also wasn't all that was advertised. I think the key to the Red Sox turnaround is if bullpen can improve and if Beckett can turn it around.
  7. Maybe swindle wasn't the perfect wording but I was just pointing out that he tried to give it another go. It's not like he retired off into the sunset after 07 world series. Honestly only he knows for sure if he was really hurt. Plenty of guys in professional sports go through physicals or tests and pass, sign a big contract and then it is found out they were injured later. And you're right. Since he never threw a pitch in 2008, if will never be in the record books, and people will forget it ever happened.
  8. Schilling did try to do that. He swindled a contract out of the Sox and injuries shut him down the entire 08 season.
  9. Get a better computer. Mine worked great.
  10. I'm not attacking you personally, so don't get all mad for me stating the thread was depressing. This is a message board, and my opinion whether you like it or not is allowed to be shared. Never said I didn't think this thread won't be used throughout the season. Starting an injury thread in December regarding our health in April makes little sense. Youkilis is 100% ready to go the only annoyance is scar tissue. Pedroia broke a bone and that usually takes 2 months but they rushed him back too soon last year. The human body slows down the healing process in winter. Wait to see how spring training goes before expecting the worst is all I'm saying. EDIT: I can see how you were offended as OP, but my second comments were mainly directed at those who already seemed to be panicking.
  11. To make an entire thread about how th Red Sox will fail before the season is pessimism, not realism. I am not a homer for bashing this.
  12. The Miami ©Heat are making excuses again. ESPN article about how their "rivals" have better chemistry than them right now. Didn't Celtics win it their first year together in 2007? Lebron "Quitness" James seems to be making excuses in advance for when he mails it in again during the playoffs. Celtics at this point maybe we do have better chemistry. But teams like Orlando Magic had a major trade mid-season you could argue they don't even have the chemistry of the Heat. The Bulls have a new addition of Boozer and have been without Joakim Noah for a while. For three guys that HAVE played together in the past (Olympics), and CHOSE to play together this season - you'd think chemistry would be the LAST kind of issue. They knew what they were getting themselves into. Makes me sick. Celtics were put together by trades they didn't choose to go together. But they have been killing teams from the moment they were created (started 9-0, as opposed to Heat who started 9-8). Now Miami is 34-14 which is very good. But the over the top egos and promises of 6 or 7 championships makes you seem like cocks, and you wonder why people hate you. Celtics will obliterate this team in a playoff series in 4 or 5 games, just like they obliterated them twice this year. Take some mental notes, LeDouche. This statement is just stupid. Do Heat players even think before they talk. Kind of what Bosh said earlier this year after a loss. "Coach wants us to work hard, we want to chill." LOL seriously? Can't stand some of the attitudes of some of the players in the NBA. They have been babied their whole lives and when things don't go right they blame everyone but themselves.
  13. Torres sucks, glad they got rid of that cancer
  14. This thread is depressing. It's 2011! New Beginnings. Forgot this is Red Sox nation. Gloom and Doom:(
  15. Pretty naive to think an injury won't happen somewhere for the Sox this year, even though it seems liek we got it all out of our system last year. I see Wakefield will start a good amount of games. I could see Beckett or Dice-K falling apart. Wakefield will get his run this year in the rotation.
  16. Scouts are saying his defense is at a major league elite level right now. His problem and this goes for most young players that they really need to develop at the plate to be able to hit major league pitching. Depending on how he does we might see him in September this year. I'll be looking forward to it.
  17. Phillies had L, L, L for a while in Utley, Howard and Ibanez if I remember correctly.
  18. I'm wondering if there is an advanced baseball metric I'm missing that states whether a putout looked smooth or not. Maybe they will introduce this down the line. This is a question that you asked but I fear don't think really want a real answer. I'll give you a short answer: I have my own personal reasons why I chose not to pursue baseball after high school even though I had opportunities. I see no reason why I would need to share these to some random on a website. There's more skills involved in playing baseball professionally or even on the collegiate level than just fielding a semi-routine ball towards the middle. I'm just stating Iglesias has probably made many better plays than that and is much more skilled than I ever was. That video you posted was the only thing you could find on MLB.com of him and I'm sure you were just somehow trying to relate it to your point about his elite defensive abilities. I just thought it was funny. I read your posts on this site and generally agree with most of the things you point out. No hard feelings.
  19. LOL I made that play routine in Little League
  20. Looked that football team up - they don't look very good - more power to you. I always find it weird when Europeans pick up baseball. If I saw a game I would have no idea what was going on. So uhhh... the offense never touches the ball?
  21. Trade helps both of them out. Angels were going to pay Crawford anyway and really all they are losing is Crawford's speed. Vernon Wells will have a respectable year for them. Nowhere near worth that contract, but he will help them try to compete in a division where Oakland is looking to surpass them.
  22. I disagree about the Blue Jays. I think they will be lucky to win 80 games. I could even see them being under 70. The Orioles and Red Sox improved drastically, you could see them fighting over the cellar with the Rays. However I think the Rays found some offensive stop gaps with Damon and Ramirez, and should hover around .500 if their starting pitching holds up and they plug some holes in the pen. Here's how I have it. AL East Boston NYY Baltimore Tampa Toronto AL Central Minnesota (if they stay healthy) Detroit Chicago Cleveland KC AL West Texas Oakland LAA Seattle NL East Philadelphia Atlanta NYM Florida DC NL Central St. Louis Milwaukee Cincinnati Chicago Houston Pittsburgh NL West Colorado San Francisco San Diego Los Angeles Dodgers Arizona AL: Boston over Yankees NL: Phillies over Cardinals World Series: Red Sox in 7
  23. Unless you like watching the bleachers, the new scoreboard or have a thing for J.D. Drew, I'd avoid the right field grandstand. Otherwise, it's pretty self explanatory. Fenway doesn't have the greatest of accommodation but I usually don't mind - I'm there to see a ballgame not have my butt wiped for me. EDIT: And welcome to the board and you picked a good team to root for. Any real reasons you chose the Sox? It's nice to see baseball getting some international fandom. I've been actually trying to get into football (real football haha) the last couple years myself. Trying to see who I like and watch some games before I pick a team.
  24. I think the Orioles can get third place.
