  1. We all forgot that the Yankees have Mark Prior waiting in the wings
  2. Posada didn't hit in the bottom of the order for most of his career. He was usually 4 5 or 6. He wouldn't have taken such exception to batting 9th if he had been in the bottom third his whole career.
  3. Me and my buddies have been yelling in a real deep voice "Yo Adrian! We did it!" whenever he gets a hit. But I like the A-God nickname.
  4. And we give up who exactly?
  5. Lester, Beckett, Buchholz win and Lackey and Dice-K lose = 3/5 = .600 winning percentage = 97 wins
  6. Agreed. Wakefield starts Tuesday. Then Wednesday, Thursday, Friday we have the Big 3. Then good news is that Dice-K's next start on Saturday coincides with the end of the world (May 21). The stars are aligning for a big winning streak here.
  7. I think once the season is over we will be looking back and praising Tito head over heels for pulling the ballclub otu of a horrid start. I think Tito is a good answer. That being said, it's Adrian who is our MVP so far with Beckett close behind.
  8. Anyone else catch John Lackey slappin aorund his elbow in the postgame celebration? What a made up injury if I ever heard one.
  9. I'M OLD GREGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
  10. Seems like that lineup is here to stay...
  11. But not over the middle... While I do agree poudning the strike zone is something he needs to work on, it's not as simple as just getting the ball over. We saw what happened to him against Tampa earlier this year when he simply just "throws strikes". While Daisuke does nibble, simply throwing the ball over against a major league lineup - even the Orioles - can lead to bad results. Pitching is all about painting the corners. One thing I've noticed abotu Daisuke is when he uses his fastball a lot more to paint the corners he ends up doing a better job. Too many offspeed ptiches he tries to paint the black and when unsuccessful he gets into some real bad counts. If he can pound the corners with his fastball, it makes his other pitches that much more effective.
  12. The one thing I admire about Lester is his ability to shake off a bad inning. While Lester's start last night was a little shaky, he was brilliant after the 2nd inning. On the other hand, Buchholz seems like he has confidence issues. While he seems to be improving in this area, a bad inning seems to really rattle him into having a bad outing. I think that's somethign he will eventually learn from a guy like Lester and why ultimately he will be a great pitcher for us for a long time.
  13. Remember when Raul Ibanez started hot for the Phillies a couple years ago? People started talking steroids. I'd rather say the guy is 100% innocent until some proof comes along. Bautista is a well built guy but it's not like the guy has put on 30 lbs of muscle like McGwire. I for one am happy for the guy, it's a nice story and glad he's turning into a star (although not too pleased he happens to play in our division). I heard something about a hitting coach in Pittsburgh who fixed a hole in his swing. He's always had a decent power stroke, but what has really surprised me is his ability to hit for average thus far. That's usually not a sign of a guy who's juicing, imo. http://www.sbeen.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/bautista-bal-1.jpg http://www.sbeen.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/bautista-pitt1.jpg http://www.sbeen.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/bautista-kc.jpg http://www.sbeen.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/bautista-tor1.jpg I don't see anything substancial... at least nothing a little time in the weight room isn't capable of.
  14. You guys do know they test for steroids in MLB as of 2004, right?
  15. He's on pace for over 70 homers.
  16. I honestly created this thread before I saw what he did today... wow
  17. Where did this guy come from? 54 Homers last year and his numbers this year are absolutely silly. He'd be running away with the triple crown if he had a better offense around him He's leading the league in homeruns right now and his OPS is an absurd 1.315, more than .200 points higher than anyone in baseball.
  18. Agreed with a posts above. Nomar is very good on ESPN. And from what I saw of Mike Lowell one time on MLB Net., he looked solid as well. Schilling on the other hand....
  19. Is the OP 12?
  20. Explain this to me then: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/y/youngcy01.shtml Throwing 400 innings a season didn't exactly derail Cy Young's career. Have human bodies deteriorated over the past century?
