  1. Master Yoda? Cano is having a better year at the plate, and believe it or not, I think they are a wash defensively. Cano's hands aren't nearly as good, but his better range makes up for it. If it's going to mean something, they ought to take the power out of the fans' hands. Mauer, Lowell, and Wells should be starting.
  2. Sure, use Timlin once somebody is on base. That's the thing to do. Tito, BP tracks this stuff, I suggest you try looking at Timlins ARP the last 3 years. It ain't pretty.
  3. Hey, FKF, you fell behing 3-1 to the first guy, think it's a bad idea to do it again? f***ing hack.
  4. Predictably predictable.
  5. Ok, runs, lots of 'em. Make it happen.
  6. He seems alright at dealing around the mess he made. He definitely needs to hit his spots better. It's a shame that Wells got plunked on the knee and Clement just flat out sucks, because Lester ought to be finishing the year in Pawtuckett working on command. Don't get me wrong, the kid has the stuff for being up, but his command is just a bit less than what it needs to be.
  7. I have to give the Marlins credit, they are coached very well at "avoiding" the pitch by making themselves bigger targets.
  8. Should have charged it, Youk.
  9. Low-pulse rate inning there. That's a nice change.
  10. I think Abercrombie's hit got into his head. That was a nasty, darting, diving cutter (slider?) that was an absolute pitcher's pitch, and Abercrombie golfed it to the wall. He probably couldn't get that result again in 10 tries. He needs to learn how to just shrug it off and move on. Come on Uggla, give us a slow roller........IF pop will do.
  11. That's right, I forgot he was a senior. Yeah, that tends to be the rub with the young fireballers - lack of command. However, I wouldn't look at his entire season line. I've read a couple of articles that say he had made a turn-around about mid-season. I'm thinking he makes the list if his 2nd half form reports to Ft. Myers/Lowell. Hey, you going to the game tomorrow? Beckett vs. Kazmir.
  12. How many games have started with lead-off homer for both teams?
  13. Works for me. Cox and LaPorta probably find their way onto that list if they get signed.
  14. Youk kills. Damn, Loretter raked that ball....right at Cabrera.
  15. I felt the same way about the OF tournament and Willie Mays. It is appalling, but not entirely shocking, that he didn't make the top-3 by the members of this site. And, Pete Rose over Ty Cobb. Right.
  16. Jimi likes the mojo. It, like him, is a mysterious and powerful force of the supernatural. Well, I'm a voodoo chile Lord I'm a voodoo chile Well, the night I was born Lord I swear the moon turned a fire red The night I was born I swear the moon turned a fire red Well my poor mother cried out 'lord, the gypsy was right!' And I seen her fell down right dead http://www.myclassiclyrics.com/artist_biographies/jimi_hendrix_biography.jpg
  17. How in the world can anyone think A-Rod should be the starting 3B? Slappy: .279/.390/.502/.892, 11 2B, 1 3B, 17 HR, 8 SB Lowell: .308/.363/.510/.883, 29 2B, 1 3B, 9 HR, 1 SB Looks like a wash offensively. ARod gets on base better, leaves the yard more often, and has more SB, but Lowell has more success hitting the ball and a bunch more extra base hits. Well, I suppose ARod gets a slight edge there, but it's not significant. BP agrees with me, since ARod leads Lowell by about 3.5 runs in RARP (which is about 1/3 of a win). That would be great if these guys were DH's, but too bad, so sad for Slappy, their play in the field has be considered too. Lowell: 226 TC, 4 E, .982 F%, 3.14 RF, .860 ZR Slappy: 210 TC, 13 E, .938 F5, 2.65 RF, .757 ZR Mikey's taking him to the woodshed here. BP agrees, -6 FRAA for Slappy, 6 FRAA for Lowell, a 12 run difference. Not that I care, hell, I'd like the guy to get the 3 days off. And, he probably will since Guillen is the manager and Crede is having a season you could argue is better than Slappy's.
  18. Lou Gehrig. Game over.
  19. It was against the Sox. If you read through the thread, you'd see that this thing has worked as a jinx. He was trying to jinx Willis. I know you don't like the guy, but the impulse to ridicule him has made you come out with egg on your face this time.
  20. I think it's something like this.... (H - HR) / (TBF - HR - SO - BB - HBP - IBB - SH) Total batters faced minus HR, SO, BB, IBB, HBP, and SH should give you the amount of balls put in play. Or, you could grab it from The Harball Times website. EDIT: Farking typo.
  21. I think Papi likes to hit against Sanchez.
  22. Wake's got the ball dancing and falling out of the bottom of the zone now. Good sign.
  23. Deuce. It's been awhile since he raked a double.
  24. Nasty bender from Sanchez. The Marlins ought to keep him up.
